The subtitle, "Devotions on the Names of God," is a bit misleading. Not all of the devotions focus on a name. Many are based on attributes or roles of God, such as "gracious" or " helper." This is a quibble. The writing is excellent, and the theology is sound. The insights are meaningful, and are not dense theological treatises. This makes them very accessible. The downside for mature Christians is that if you WANT a dense theological treatise, you must look elsewhere. These devotionals are not on [...]

This new title helps readers discover all the Biblical names of God, and gives you a wonderful opportunity to know God more intimately. The author is a contributing author to many Cup of Comfort books and Chicken Soup titles so she know how to capture your attention. A short examples of how the book in organized is in order. The table of contents has a chosen lists of the names of God. Each example is one page long and the first one is Glory, which has symbols by it to indicate whether the devot [...]

This is a very readable devotional that goes through the names and attributes of God. She starts with the Hebrew names and then goes on to characteristics of God. She then looks at the names of Jesus, His characteristics, and then the Holy Spirit. The entries are not profound theology but are very good for devotional use. This book is out of print now but has been released with a new title. You can find out more about it and my full review at bit/1kD7KlX.

These devotional readings are encouraging reminders of who God is in my life. I liked learning more about the names of God, especially in the first half of the book. The readings are short and easy to relate to. The readings aren't dated or numbered, so I didn't read every day. It took me longer than a year to get through, but it seemed that each time I read, the Lord spoke to me for that moment.

Many of the devotions were thought provoking and I would be drawn back to them for my own need or to share with others. For a busy life when you are looking to connect with the Lord these short devotions helped me succeed, yet you could always take it deeper by delving into the referenced scripture. I've read many devotional books and I didn't want this one to end.

Trying this free devotional I got for my Kindle for my yearly 2012 devotionalCompleted 12-29-12. Each day was not numbered or named, so I thought I was behind, only to read a couple extra days and realized I went ahead and finished before the 31st. Nice devotional, nothing special though, but good to have, especially for free :)

This was a formatting issue. The names of God weren't displayed on the pages as advertised in the introduction, so I wasn't sure which name I was reading about. Entries were very short, so this would be great for a 5-minute devotional time.

It was good, but the e-edition formatting didn't quite work for me.

Ava does a wonderful job with this daily devotional. I have had it for a few years and when I go back and read it, God gives me new lessons through Ava's writing.

  • Tammy

Great little daily devotional. Many thought provoking nuggets in this one. Lots of highlights made in my kindle edition. Would like to have it in paper format to go through again and take notes.

  • Lillie

Each name or attribute of God has three devotionals about it, covering what the Bible says about it, what it means to the reader individually, and how it applies to reaching out to others.
