How many times, while re-reading my favorite classics, did I wish they were actually written about same sex couples (m/m or f/f)!When I came across "My Fair Laddie", I was so thrilled, I bought it right on the spot and literally inhaled it. However, the book left me with very mixed feelings. On the one hand, I was annoyed at the similarities, hoping maybe for more deviations from the original plot, on the other, I was (and still am) really glad that the author stuck to it closely. The funny thin [...]

This is definitely the rich man with small heart and big head takes on the task of teaching a backwoods redneck. It was cute. There was nothing unexpected. A lot of quick changes of personalities. It was a pleasant read.

So far, I haven't read or seen the books and films Ryan based his stories on, however in this instance I have. In fact, I grew up on "My Fair Lady" and can sing all the words of all the songs. Funnily enough, just two days ago I caught some of the Audrey Hepburn/Rex Harrison version on TV. This book would have gotten a higher rating if the ending wasn't so odd. I've never seen My Fair Lady, so maybe that was the problem. All throughout the book, the characters are interesting and believable. And then there's the ending. It just made no sense to me, or perhaps the characters' thoughts and motivations weren't explained well enough for my liking. I dunno, I was fine till the end.

I really liked this book a lot. I thought Wilbur was a great character and I read it just to see how things turned out for him. He was hot too. Just loved him. Wish I'd of liked Harlan more though.

This book was not really my cup of tea. The characters seemed formulaic and I didn't feel any connection or chemistry between any of them.
