I really had trouble even finishing this book - probably wouldn't have if it didn't fill a spot in 2 different challenges! I didn't care for the author's writing style, which is a matter of personal preference so I don't hold it against her, different people have different tastes. Unfortunately I also never really connected with the characters and I felt like the story dragged and the plot wasn't developed as well as it could have been. The thing that really bothered me though was the lack of re [...]

This was a Harlequin Kimani Romance. Kimani Romances are about the African American community. I loved the glimpse into another culture. She is a basketball champion and he's a very proactive businessman. It was a little too hot for my taste though. I found it a little confusing. The couple was religious and said grace before meals. But they were having a full-on affair before they even said "I love you". Overall, a pleasant and enjoyable read. I felt as if I was intruding a bit on the intimate [...]

THE MILLIONAIRE'S ULTIMATE CATCH is an enjoyable book that had a little too many eye-rolling moments for me to make it a great read.Naomi is a professional basketball player. She and her team are in Seattle performing an exhibition game. After the game Naomi is delayed by fans and overhears some guys attempting to attack a girl at the arena. She makes her way to help and on her way to where she overhead the attackers, she passes a group of people who are leaving the arena. Does Naomi tell them w [...]

Freebie. Ultimately, the author's style didn't suit me. The most interesting thing was that the heroine Naomi was a professional basketball player. But it goes downhill from there. Many details and dialogue are abrupt, awkward, or cliched. This reminded me of telenovelas, because there were so many plot shifts or revelations (e.g. Naomi's career changes). Both Zack and Naomi seemed selfish and immature at times, and I didn't care for them very much. There were quite a few errors and inconsistenci [...]

WNBA star Naomi Venable is walking to the team bus after a game when she comes to the aid of a young girl being attacked. Although the girl is okay, Naomi sustains some injuries that make it impossible for her to travel and play in any more exhibition games. When real estate developer Zack Keathley hears about how she helped his little sister, he offers her the chance to recuperate at his family's estate.Naomi is determined to get back to her regular life and isn't interested in being pursued by [...]

I'm giving The Millionaire's Ultimate Catch 4 stars, but I really mean 3.5 (I'm just feeling nice today). This novella was definitely average and after reading about 4 romance novels back to back, Monkou's just fell short. I heard great things about this book, but it didn't take the cake for me. It was a bit boring at times and I never really felt the connection between Naomi and Zack.

The author's writing style was OK, but for some reason, I just couldn't emotionally connect to the main characters. There were many aspects of the book that felt implausible to me, and the ending was too abrupt.

Loving it can't put it downDid not expect the twists and turns to end the way it did. Love that it took me to Haiti and gave historical perspective of Haiti and adoption good reading material.

  • The Book Junkie Reads . . .

I felt lost and confused in many places. It was what it was. I guess that is why it took me so long to finish the book.
