The Lust Garden is the debut novel from author Billy Jolie, and it does not read at all like a first work. It was fiercely engaging, with a fantastic story and fabulous characters. Although set amidst the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and New York, it is definately not a lighthearted, fluffy, "celeb" tale. It is dark, gritty, and graphic, at it's heart a story of dysfunction of all kinds. Drugs, sex, family issues, you name it. So many times, the grittiness and graphicness of a story can be ove [...]

It goes without saying, that the title and cover of this book are a bit tantilizing and teased my curiousity. I was definitely intrigued by the blood smeared across the face of a dream. To read "the Lust Garden" is an even greater delight more ways than one. The characters are all deeply cut to the core and their lives, as well as the people around them absorb the intensity of their wounds. I was captivated by the beauty and lifestyle of the main character - young starlet, Gianna. She's everythi [...]

Check out more of my reviews here! :)yareaderextraordinairespoThe Lust Garden is a mixture of stories from a wide range of characters with different points a view that all complimented the main plot almost suductively. In this book you meet a whole different world of the rich and the famous. The secret world, and the realistic one were put together charmingly. Gianna Salvani was born with a spoon in her mouth, and is the American's Sweetheart. She is already famous as is, but craves the attentio [...]

I have to start by saying this book was not what I expected.I loved how Mr.Jolie choice to use really vivid details. The details made you feel like you where there at that time and place, but some details wish where not so vivid.I would have loved it even more if he did not talk so much in great detail about sexual acts and rapeading just a little bit about the way a character was rape made me sick.I would have liked to read more about mom through out the book and not just at the end.Over all the [...]

Talk about a climatic ending?! No spoilers here. Just read the book! At first, I didn't care much for Gianna because of all the glitz & glamour in her celebrity life, but about halfway through, I really started to pity her. The author made her vulnerable, almost to a fault, which ultimately leads to the exciting conclusion. Sequel? Prequel? We can only hope

I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

It’s very easy to see the allure of the lives led by the Hollywood elite when you’re an outsider looking in through the peephole that is the paparazzi and celebrity news. Our society is so enamored with celebrities because often all we see is the money they have, the extravagant houses, cars, designer clothes, and whatever else they want that can be bought at the drop of a hat, and the power that derives from it all. As far as most of us are concerned, if you don’t have to worry about mone [...]

Lust Garden is Billy Jolie’s debut novel, but don’t let that fool you – it’s very well written and shiny. When I saw the cover I had to double check it actually is an indie book. The novel starts a bit slow, and it’s hard to care that much for the characters, since none of them are really likable at first and the setting changes to other people quite often, so you don’t have the opportunity to get too attached. This clearly is a weakness in the novel.Even though I didn’t want to be [...]

Gianna Salvani is perfect. From her looks to the way her career is shaping up. She is the girl everyone is attracted to and she is the girl that everyone envies. But then there is more to this diva than one expects. She is grieving for her father while trying to handle her alcoholic mother. Her boyfriend is too occupied with himself to ‘actually’ understand her. Even her best friend isn’t really a friend. She is lonely in ways that one can only imagine. To top it all, a serial killer is af [...]

I loved this book. It was disturbing and there were a few parts that were difficult to read, but it was such a great story! I’ve been on a bit of a twisted kick lately – I’ve been watching weird movies and reading twisted books – but I have to say it’s been interesting. As much as I liked this book I think it’s filled me up on my disturbing quota for a while. I normally am not all that bothered by crazy stuff, but I do have to admit there was one scene in this book that really got to [...]

My Lust Garden ReviewI think I just relived books I read when I was much younger. I have to say that the Lust Garden was an easy read that I sincerely enjoyed. In this day and age of vampires and werewolves it was so nice to read a story about complicated relationships that didn't involve shapeshifting! Thank you Billie Jolie for allowing me to read and be transported to a time I had long since forgotten. There was a touch of a Jackie Collins meets Mary Higgins Clark in this young man's writing. [...]

Murder, envy, secrets, sex….welcome to The Lust Garden. Gianna’s world seems perfect – but like everything that glitters – it’s not all gold. A love triangle with the glitz and glamour of Hollywood mixed with dark, deeply hidden secrets send the reader careening on a sometimes disturbing but continuously gripping ride. This book is not for the faint of heart or stomach. Some of the scenes are graphic, there’s sex (did I mention that?) and the language is a little rough, but the story [...]

You are thrown instantly into the very real and raunchy side of the entertainment industry. Following an actor, a model and a actress/singer into the depths of drugs, sex, affairs, vengence, heartbreak and all the while the paparazzi are clicking their cameras. Many of these young stars become overwhelmed by the limelight and have come from messed up situations to being with so not surprisngly they do not handle the pressure of fame very well. Meanwhile a serial killer is on the loose who's fan [...]

Lisa's review of The Lust GardenBy Billy JolieI was given a copy of The Lust Garden by Billy Jolie in exchange for a honest review.  The prequel had me alittle confused then I was able to get on track once the book proceeded.  This is a first novel for Billy and I think it was a good one.  Showing us the glitz of the famous in New York and Hollywood.  The author delves into the deeper and darker side of the sex, drugs, and other issues.  There was great flow to the book and you were immers [...]

The Lust Garden is Jackie Collins meets Sidney Sheldon meets Harold Robbins. It's steamy and glamorous with the snappy, bitchy dialogue you would expect the beautiful people to use with each other. Gianna's secrets and the serial killer's parallel story left me sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. I was a little disappointed by the ending, but not because it was badly written. I don't want to give anything away, let's just say I prefer a certain type of ending and th [...]

Fascinating Read!I like the title and the cover but it was the last line of the blurb that made me want to read it. I’m glad I did. There’s quite a bit of head hopping in this book but you meet some interesting people and catch a glimpse into stardom’s downfalls & perks. It was fascinating to not only see the life of the Hollywood celebrities but also see how others perceive them. In that respect, I found the author’s approach to be unique and it held my interest. It’s also very we [...]

"The Lust Garden is Billy Jolie's debut novel, but you would never believe it with his writing. I found it to be a well written story with fascinating/believable characters, twists, turns, sex drugs and the glitz of the famous. This review is based on a complimentary copy which was provided for an honest review.

I had won this book through giveaways, I was excited when I had finally got it in the mail. It took me a while to read it, I have a habit of get sidetracked and losing things. The book was great, it kept me reading. It had suspicion in it, drama, and humor. Very cool!
