    Dress & Undress by Elizabeth Ewing is an okay historical survey of women's undergarments, not scholarly or definitive, but useful. It doesn't cover quite the years advertised; 3000 BC to the fifteenth century takes up only ten pages, with the bulk of the book devoted to subsequent periods in increasing detail. There are many good, and often unusual, primary source illustrations, although none in color. The writing is breezy. There is a bibliography, but no footnotes.There is one unfortunate [...]

    Probably better treatments of the topic exist, but for an introduction to women's underwear, this book acts as a survey for further research and investigation. Other reviewers' complaints about the book are warranted.
