    The book is written to be a quick read, but because of the 1940s journalistic style of writing, it still tends to be difficult to get through at times. On the other hand, it would make a great primer for someone who wanted to imitate baseball journalism from that point in time.The book covers the history of the Cubs into 1946, the year after the team's last appearance in the World Series.
