I enjoyed the second book in the series. It carried on from book 1 so best to read it in order. I've read book 1 in 2015 so took me a while to remember what happened. From all the books I've read from Kristen, this series is my favourite. The pages are filled with history and lovable characters dealing with emotional challenges which the need to overcome while facing some physical challenges as well. My heart was filled with emotion for Carina.Carina is a spunky enjoyable strong women in times w [...]

Each book in this series gets better and better. I absurdly love them. I love the fact that each of these characters is flawed in an utterly realistic way. That makes their journey towards healing that much more believable and gripping. The emotions in this book are so real, so perfectly portrayed. It's hard to not get caught up and unable to put the book down. Once again, I'll say that each book is not a standalone story. While there is a plot arc - gradual build up, climax and denouement - the [...]

SWEET BOUNDLESS picks up where THE ROSE LEGACY left off. With the town of Crystal now free from the evil that had held it captive, Carina DeGratia Shepard takes hold of the house that had once been promised to her. Though Quillian refuses to acknowledge their marriage, Carina refuses to let him go. With grit and determination, Carina creates for herself a small restaurant, bringing her Italian charm to a bustling town. Carina continues to learn more about Quillian's past, a past that has made hi [...]

I didn't know this was the second book in the series. I wish I had read the first one before this. I loved it so much. I'd highly recommend it. I just finished reading it and already miss Carina and Quillan and Alex and Mae. The characters were so well written. I love that! Kristen Heitzman is one of my favorite authors. If I had to say anything bad about the book, I'd say that I was confused about what brought Quillan and Carina together, but then I didn't read the first book. Had I read it, th [...]

Sweet Boundless is book two of the Diamond of the Rockies series by Kristen Heitzmann. It is a delightful sequel to The Rose Legacy. Like the first book, it keeps you on your toes. The fight for Crystal has been fought. The men in charge of trying to take over have been hanged. Beck and the Carruthers brothers are among those who died. Now Carina has no job as Beck was her boss and since the Carruthers were dead, no one was living in the house she had a deed for. She decided she would move into [...]

So, this is book #2 in a trilogy that I absolutely loved. I couldn't put it down and fell in love with the characters. I found myself thinking about them all the time! Carina is a hot blooded Italian and it is fun to watch her get into trouble. She is so full of fire and yet so fragile and broken at the same time. Quillans journey is a sad one in which I could never tell if I loved him or hated himI couldn't believe the ending to this first book and rushed right out to get the second. I'd actual [...]

This story is full of adventure, much like her other books! Carina become an entrepreneur and takes charge of her circumstances. The characters Emma and Mae provide beautiful friendships that Carina embraces and grows from. They are women hat provide Carina with safety, joy, warmth, security and much needed companionship and practical help. Carina's relationship with the Lord is beautiful as she learns to cling to him in circumstances that would challenge every one of us. The tension between Car [...]

Another great piece by Heitzmann. I first got hooked on her through the Rose Legacy. The characters in this book continue to draw me in with deeper insight into their personalities. The New Boundless mine figures strongly in the storyline, as does a new engineer brought in from the East Coast by Quillan. Carina's independence serves her well as she learns to thrive on her own, but Quillan's inability to let others into his heart threatens to tear apart the best thing that has ever happened to hi [...]

An intriguing story in the middle of the series. I wanted to kick Quillan in the rear for his hard nosed fear, but his back story made his feelings understandable. Carina's fortitude was delightful to read. Her desire to make something worthwhile of her life with a husband gone all the time was masterful. Great read. I felt strong connection with the story and the miscommunication between the two. Why oh why do characters not talk to each other? But would we have grand stories if they did?

  • Crystal

Awesome book. so many plot twists in this page gripping novel where faith, hope and love sweetly abound. Relationships are strained, faith is tested and the past comes head to head with the futrue. Highly recommend.

  • Christin

Again, I couldn't put it down. Book 1 is still my favorite so far but I can't wait to return to Crystal and see what is happening with these characters!

  • Lisa

It seems that Kristen Heitzmann's books are always worth reading, and this was no exception. My only complaint is that the ending left me wanting so much more story!

  • Samantha

Okay, so be forewarned - there are some more mature scenes between a husband and wife. Mercifully, it's not in detail, but you know. Besides that, this book kept me reading, no joke, ALL. DAY. (Alright, it was half the day, and by then I'd finished it.) Seriously, I could not put it down! The whole time I was so proud of Carina and how she was increasing her faith. At the same time, I was scowling at Quillan - get it together, man! You be nice and amazing and GO BACK TO CARINA. You know you love [...]

I loved this book, there was so many emotions in this book and they are real emotions that happen to every day people. There is so much growth and learning and most importantly forgiveness. There were so many times I wanted to smack Quillan but it was so awesome to see him forgive and change.I love how Carina keeps fighting and she doesn't just sit and do nothing. My heart hurt for her so many times with the things she had to go through.I loved the side stories of so many wonderful people and I ho [...]

Great readEnjoyed this story and how they worked things out. Was hoping for a book 3 to see their relationship progress.

  • Gina Holder

I enjoyed this book. It was so sad, but I’m glad it had a happy ending. Looking forward to reading the reminder of Carina and Quillian’s story.

    Loved it, well done.

  • Cora

A heart warming love story Kristen heitzmann did it again with a spellbound story of love, heartache, and hope. This is a must read series.

  • Stephanie Dulac

The continuation of the story of Carina and Quillan Shepherd. Each longs for the other's love but both are too stubborn to broach the subject with the other. Quillan copes by running away, using his job as an excuse to do so. Carina devises a way to support herself in his absence. A number of misunderstandings complicated by their inability to talk to each other and work things out undermines their attempts to be husband and wife. I wish the author had found a more unique plot to keep the two ap [...]

Carina married the brogue from the first book, but it is in name only. He did it to save her life, and she agreed because she loves him. She is determined to convince him somehow, that he is in love with her as well. He has been hurt by many in his past and thinks there is no room in his heart for love. Quillan finally learn who his parents were:not the harlot and murderer he had been told all his life. He finally realizes the treasure he has in Carina and returns to her to find her in the hospi [...]

Sweet BoundlessAnother great book. Showed how tough life was in the 1800's and how men lived and learned to appreciate their women. This writer does a great job.

Great StorytellingThe mark of a great storyteller is that you forget that you're reading a made up story, and the story is playing itself out right in front of you as if you are there with the characters. Such is the storytelling ability of Kristen Heitzmann. In the first novel, Carina worked through her anger at Flavio, her sister and God. In this novel we find Quillan doing the same thing. Ms. Weitzman has some measure of compassion on the reader toward the end of the novel, and finally temper [...]

If the first one was good, this one is three times as good. The romantic tension is suspended throughout every page, even when the hero and heroine are cities apart. The emotions are so real you can feel them, the love, the twisting jealousy, crippling regret, and the achy longing (especially the longing). I was mad at Quillan for a good portion of this book, but by the end I forgave him (and he makes up for everything in the third book). Phenomenal series, and I'm learning so much just by readi [...]

I picked this up almost by accident. It fell off a shelf at my library as I was reshelving some items. I'd never seen or heard of it before. But the author was familiar. So I decided to start it on my break. Three days later the book was fantastic. A different kind of story than I expected. It was deep and riveting in the pain the characters were trying to get on top of. The love story was powerful and although I believed in the end the two would end up together I had no idea how until the last [...]

I have thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this series. I especially enjoyed the journal entries at the start of each chapter: in book 1 from Rose, in book 2 from Carina and in book 3 from Quillan. You do need to read all 3 of these books together as a series as books 2 and 3 pick the story up where the previous book left off.I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

  • Arianne

Another headstrong female character from Kristen Heitzmann, also living in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Will the elegant Carina manage to survive in the rough little town she is stranded in? Why is there so much mystery surrounding Quinn? Many parts of this story could be found in many books about trailblazers, but Heitzmann's writing style makes this unique. I really enjoy reading this series again and again.

  • Kristelle

I thought this book was great. I was able to jump right in to the story but it did take me a minute to remember the order of events from the last book. In this book Carina is a little less naieve which is refreshing and great to see her growth. I throuhgly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the third.

  • Linda Husvar

This book captured my interest from beginning to end. Quillan and Carina's marriage problems, the dangers at the mines, and the mysteries about Rose and Wolf enriched the story line deeply. I loved the realistic portrayal of life in a community dependant on the mines for survival. I am anxious to read the final book in this series. Highly recommended!
