I was really excited to be approved to read and review my first Jennifer Jaynes book. (I know this is bad, but every time I see her name I am reminded of a certain porn staryone else experience this?) I have had my eye on this author for awhile now and with so many books already under her belt, I had high expectations. I'm not sure if it is because I just came off a high of some amazing 5 star books or not, but this really didn't do anything for me. I mean anything :(It wasn't just the cookie cu [...]

A very good psychological suspense novel by the talented author Jennifer James with a fast paced plot.Good strong characters that the author gives depth to, making them easy to identify with and making the story flow so well. The lead character in this novel is Diane, who lost her husband to suicide. She is now left to raise her two children Alexa and Josh while earning a living as a successful author. Her daughter Alexa is a college student who suffers from depression and lives close by, while [...]

I always sit with anticipation for Jennifer Jaynes latest book. After reading all her books to date I know her style and enjoy her stories. This book was of no exception. The people in this book soon became very real to me. The entire family was one I had a window into. I could see mistakes, I could fault find, but, I could also feel the warmth, the sadness and the emotional turmoil of finding that your husband/father had committed suicide. What does that do to a wife? A mother? Her children.Diane [...]

Wow! I flew through this one. So good. I don't think I'd change anything about it. Completely absorbing, suspenseful, and well-written. Start it when you have a good chunk of time to kill, because you're going to want to read this in one sitting if possible and the end will leave you reeling. Diane lost her husband to suicide. She is a successful author, and she and her two children made a move for a fresh start. Daughter Alexa is a college student who has slipped into severe depression. She liv [...]

I've been looking forward to reading my first novel by Jennifer Jaynes, author of Ugly Young Thing, and for most of the book, I found myself enjoying the journey. Good characters, good pacing, a family struggling after the suicide of the husband moving to a small town, some young pretty college girls murdered and a few suspects hanging around the main character, a thriller writer. All good so far, although maybe all a little predictable, and than BOOM! the entire plot took a dive off the straigh [...]

Well. What was a fantastically entertaining read ends up only being a three star review. How come?Diane is an author of thrillers about serial killers. With two children and a husband her life from outside seems good but her marriage has been going cold for a while. Eventually her families lives are shattered with the suicide of her husband. The book takes up as she has relocated with her kids to a small seaside town in Massachusetts. She is still writing and being very successful but her now co [...]

I received an ARC ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.4.5 out of 5 stars. For me, when the writing is great, the reading goes faster. "The Stranger Inside" wasn't an exception. From beginning, to middle, to the superb fast-paced, heart-wrenching ending, the novel delivers. Also, as usual in Jennifer Jayne's novels, the cast includes people with complex personalities and "complexer" problems, which makes the whole narrative flow smoothly."The Stranger Inside" is a great, attentio [...]

I am a big fan of this author's Stranger Series so I was intrigued when I heard she was writing a stand alone and jumped at the chance to read it when I read the synopsis. She writes in a style that just suits me. After reading her first book, subsequent books have felt very comfortable for me to read and she has always told a good tale played out with well crafted characters full of emotion so I was excited to start this book. And finish it in pretty much one sitting. It gripped me that much th [...]

Starts out okay and ends up terriblyPOSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT: This started out as a pretty normal psychological thriller about a serial killer of young women. The protagonist of the story is Diane Christie, an author of mysteries about serial killers. She has two teenage children - Josh who has health issues and still lives at home and Alexa, who has her small apartment and has problems with anger and depression. Her husband committed suicide and Diane is just recently feeling ready to date again. [...]

This is the first book I've read from Jennifer Jaynes, and I'm very impressed!! My favorite books are mystery/thrillers and I've become pretty good at reading between the lines and figuring out the plot twist long before its revealed. With that being said, she got me!! I had no idea until it was revealed and she took the ending in such an unusual direction!! I loved that! This book was well written, flow of the story was great and I could identify with each character especially Diane. I will def [...]

This is one of those rare times where I am angry that I can’t give more than 5 stars for a book. This has to be the biggest plot twist I’ve ever seen in a book. Jennifer Jaynes made EVERYONE in this book look like a suspect but I never would have guessed that he was the killer nor how this book resolved. My mind is freaking blown! This was my first book by this author and I immediately went online and bought paperbacks of the rest of her books.

A gripping story, tinted with layers of complexity and suspense!I had quite a hard time putting this book down simply because the moment it dives into the mystery, it becomes almost impossible to not frantically flip the pages, desperately looking for answers as the twists and turns takes you places you never thought of going. The story gives the reader the opportunity to observe the characters while questioning everything and everyone and as the story progresses, it becomes more obvious that thi [...]

Jennifer Jaynes has done it again. I have enjoyed all of her books, but I believe this one inches past the others on the leaderboard of the best of the best. It's as gripping as her other books, and then adds multiple twists that you just can't believe how it's playing out. The Stanger Inside leaves you wanting to judge the characters, but not for why you would think and it leaves you with the "LIFEBOAT QUESTION" of "What would I do?" I don't know how she does it, but I sure am pleased that she [...]

The Stranger Inside is a fantastically twisted psychological ride that had me hooked from the very first page! This is quite possibly my favorite read so far this year, I honestly can't say enough how much I loved it. I really had no expectations going in and I was blown away. I've been reading mystery/thrillers since I was a kid, so I'm not easily scared by a book. the Stranger Inside had jumping at every little noise, biting my nails, and loving every scary minute of it!Main character Diane, w [...]

  • Diane Perry

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Wow! Jennifer Jaynes raised the bar and threw it out the window in this thriller. Diane is a thriller writer, and now is in the middle of her own thriller. There is a serial killer in the neighborhood targeting young women. Who can it be and who can you trust? There is also another dynamic in this book. I didn't expect the emotional turmoil in her family. Her husband committed suicide, and her two children did not cope very well wi [...]

This is a great psychological thriller!! It kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. Just the right amount of characters woven in to keep you guessing until the end. And just when you think it’s over it’s not. Great read. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

A compelling thriller that will have you at the end of your seat. A end you don't see coming I have to be honest, the ending left me conflicted. After several days of thinking about the characters, the plot, the driving force, I had to give Jaynes credit for well thought out and well played thriller.Diane Christie a successful author has been left with two hurting teenagers after the suicide death of her husband. Her daughter Alexa has been angry with her mother since the family adopted her brot [...]

I read this book in two days. It is a gripping, edge of your seat thriller. You are unsure until the very end who the killer is. I did not agree with the ending but it made sense with the preceding story and characters in the book

  • Tammy Busby

Fantastic book! Kept me on my toes the entire book. Usually I can figure out the "whodunit" pretty early on in a book, but this one shocked me! Jennifer Jaynes is an exceptional author. The twists and turns in this book will keep the reader guessing until the end.

  • MichelleDriscoll

This is the first book I have read by Jennifer Jaynes and quite clearly I have been missing out. The book had a fair few red herrings, throwing the reader off the ultimate reveal at the end. Great book, very well-written and full of supsense.Highly recommended and 4 stars from me.

  • Ellen Thielen

If you are at all interested how people with damaged minds function in the real world, you'll love the characters in this book! There are so many suspects of murdered women, it'll make your head spin. I guarantee that you won't see the ending coming!

  • Colleen Shannon

Make sure you've got a comfortable chair. This is one of those books you won't want to put down until you've finished it. The suspense is tautly crafted weaving a story that keeps you intrigued right up to the final page. I'm still thinking about it.
