Blame the Mistletoe by Dani Collins is book one in the Montana Born Christmas series. Christmas books and Christmas movies. Two of my favorite things in the world. So I decided to start my holiday reading a little early this year. This is a short book but plenty of time to get attached to these characters. Liz Flowers has agreed to spend Christmas house and dog sitting for her ex-mother in law in Marietta, Montana. Her teenage daughter is spending Christmas this year with her father and his new [...]

This is a novella. It seems, to me, to be a wrong place/wrong time type of story, at least from their original first encounter some 15 years earlier. The two main characters, Liz and Blake, are quasi-related; they married a brother/sister and have since divorced said spouses. Liz meets Blake by accident at the Christmas party of one of her ex-mother-in-law's neighbors. They realize that they kind of look familiar to each other and then it clicks. It was a cute, sexy story where the main characte [...]

My edition was two books in one, including Taken by the Raider. Therein lies the problem. I would give the mistletoe book four stars but the raider one only two. Lumped together it becomes three stars. The mistletoe tale occurs in a farming community over winter when many folks are out of town and those who are left firmly insist on getting together over Christmas. Everyone welcome. This throws together a pair of people from a blended family who are now free again and can gripe about their respe [...]

Reviewed by GeminiBlame the Mistletoe was a very interesting Christmas read. In fact, interesting probably isn’t the right word. It was complicated. It’s the story of Liz Flowers and Blake Canon. They have no business being together but they can’t seem to fight their attraction. Liz is only in Marietta because her daughter Petra is on a trip to Mexico with Liz’s ex-husband. Blake actually lives in Marietta and his son is also on a trip to Mexico with Blake’s ex-wife. The crazy thing is [...]

Blame the Mistletoe: Love in Montana, Book 2 is by Dani Collins. It is a cute book about love. Liz Flowers had found herself in Marietta housesitting for her ex-Mother-in-Law while the family flew to a tropical wedding. She had divorced her husband and she and her mother ran a series of salons in California. She was in management so could take time off. She had brought her daughter Petra to Montana to attend her Father’s tropical wedding and found herself housesitting over Christmas. Now she w [...]

This was a short, quick romance story. Liz and Blake were both once married to "Flowers" a sister and brother, but have both divorced. They both have one child from the marriage and both end up at the same party in Marietta Montana while the Flower family, including their children are gone for a month to a tropical island for a wedding. They have not seen each other in 15 years, but when the meet at the party there is a spark. Of course they end up in bed together and the descriptions of this ti [...]

This is a bit of an 'advertising' book. Says it's 260pgs, but it's really 130pgs, with some advertising tacked on, a preview of another book in the series, and it actually has another short book in there too. Taken by the RaiderBoth books are pretty good. Nothing earth shattering, but not standard plots either. There no real world building, so they are bare bones stories with no added fluff. Nice easy reads.

Short, sweet festive romance. Good for a quick read. Threw me a couple of times when the POV switched between one paragraph and the next.

  • Deborah F. Morales

The beginning of the book was promising, but then because too sexually graphic for my taste.

What a beautiful story of how love gone wrong can eventually lead you to true love. Both Liz and Blake have been through the wringer and back thanks to their exes, brother and sister team of Dean and Crystal. On a chance meeting at a holiday party thrown by Liz's new friend and Blake's neighbour Skye, they get re-aquainted, quickly taking their friendship to a new level, as both of their children are with their respective parents in the tropics with the rest of the Flowers' family, attending Dea [...]

Blame the MistletoeTwo people who were married and divorced by two selfish siblings meet at Christmas time when said siblings take all the children to Mexico for the holidays. The sparks fly between them. But will it keep after the ex's return? What about the children? This was a short read with an added bonus story.

Complicated but amazingly sweet love storyThis was a complicated but amazingly sweet love story that I loved every word of. The backstory was so rich and complex but the connection between the two main characters was so real. I loved the way it worked out too. Looking forward to reading more of this series and author.

  • Nancy

Read this along with #1, 3 & 4 in the Love in Montana series as a boxed set. Enjoyed them all - small town romance with heat and pulls on the heartstrings. This one featured a couple who had previously been married to a brother and sister.

  • Rachel

Sweet Christmas LoveThis was a sweet Christmas read between Liz and Blake who both had rough experiences in their first marriages. A few little twists and some fun Christmas traditions made this an enjoyable quick read.

  • Bernie

Blame the Mistletoe is the second romance in the Love in Montana series written by author Dani Collins.

  • Cynthia Ramsey

Must not miss MistletoeEnjoyable story with a bonus story included. Stories are steamy enough to be interesting and well written enough to be enjoyable.

  • Marjorie

No more collinsThought I was going to read a whole story not just a few chaptersBut it was well written's best to be up front

FunThis was a good fun light Xmas read. It was like reading a hallmark Christmas movie. So if u like watching those u will like this book.

  • Ann

An okay read for a rainy day. The POV switching and all the extra character mentions were a bit confusing at times, but the romance was sweet and gives you the warm fuzzies.

  • Km Mccallum

Good storyGreat story of power and love. Opening up and not being afraid to love someone. Can't wait to read the next book

  • Mandi Morgan

    Super sweet and cute.

  • David

    Choppy transitions, poor character development.

  • Elizabeth Earleywine

3.5. This was an enjoyable read.

  • Amanda

Blame the Mistletoe was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon read. A was humorous at times, but mostly heartwarming.Even though it was short novella, and part of a series, it was an entire story - no cliffhangers. Glad I stumbled upon this one.

  • Carol

Short Christmas story that was fun and had a lot of depth and I was really drawn in deeper with each page. First read by Dani Collins but liked her style of writing and will be looking for more.

  • Pam

This is a cute short Christmas story that introduces us to the small town of Marietta, Montana and the people that reside there. I have a soft spot for cowboys, Christmas and romance so this series is right up my alley. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read featuring a couple looking for a second chance a love.Liz Flowers is spending her Christmas watching her ex in-law’s dog in an unfamiliar town, she brought it on herself when she found out her daughter Petra would be gone all month, so she d [...]

Blame the Mistletoe is a short novel (novella?) only 100 pages long and my review will be just as short.  Even though it is short it does pack a punch and it was very enjoyable. As I said, the story was short, but it didn’t felt rushed because the main characters knew each other, or more accurately, they knew about each other.  When they happen to be in the same party in Marietta, they recognize each other and a quick kiss under the mistletoe turns into something else rather quickly.  Now, b [...]
