The book wasn't bad, but it wasn't good and won't last at all in my memory. It's about Angelique, a girl in 1871 London, who can hear people's thoughts. She meets a man, Alexander, who can also hear people's thoughts and communicate telepathically, turns out he's a vampire. The plot is about finding Sergey, a crazed vampire who's going about murdering people and working with the vampire slayers. Angelique didn't bother me and maybe I liked her, but I wanted her to be a stronger person with Alexa [...]

3.5 starsA historical with paranormal mixed in together sure made for an interesting read to say the least. I have some mix feeling for this one though, I definitely liked the concept of the story but at times it seemed overwhelming with how fast the story would go. I like the h Angelica she's a sweet girl who loves to read and just be in her own world. She doesn't like the fact that is is being forced to find a husband. The H Alexander is mysterious an elusive a bit cold at times. His also a va [...]

Contrasting feelings so in this review I will tell the extremes of my opinion.I adore the vampire topic in an historical romance. It's just perfect! All the balls, the society rules, the extravagant dressing, everything is perfect to a vampire story! Loved it and would be very happy reading more books structured like this one.I liked the mystery and the surprise end! There is a mystery about who is a slayer and I LOVED it! I wasn't expecting that person and was very surprised!I loved all the cha [...]

Really 3.5 stars was a bit choppy."Under the Blood Red Moon" is Mina Hepsen's debut novel. It's a well-written, medium heat, historical paranormal romance with vampires. Hepsen's take on vampires is a bit different and very interesting. However, there are a few blank spots where some things just seems to appear from nowhere which was a bit bothersome.Angelica has a couple of problems. The first is that she doesn't particularly want to marry, she'd much rather spend her time reading and enjoying [...]

I thought this book would be cheesy. Actually I thought it would be laughably cheesetastic, sort of like a pathetic combination of Anne Rice and Stephenie Meyer. Oh, how wrong I was! This was a total impulse buy, the cover, the title, the blurb on the back made me hand over the $15 for book. It sat on shelf for almost two years before it being read (in honor of Halloween). I was delightfully surprised at how simple, yet well written this novel was. It's very easy to read, while still be a histor [...]

Princess Angelica Belanov grew up knowing she was different, she was able to her other peoples thoughts, so she had decided to seclude herself from others to protect herself as well others. Finding that another seemed to have that same gift, gave her hope as a way to control it better. Prince Kourakin was so used to reading other peoples minds that he thought nothing of it, until he realized that the enchanting beauty that had just been in his mind was not of the same race as himself, a vampire. [...]

I haven't read many historical romances, but picked this one because (1) the cover (yes, I know "don't judge a book by the cover", but in this case it worked) drew me in and so did the synopsis "Cursed with the ability to hear the thoughts of others " and "The powerful leader of an Eastern clan of immortals, he has come to London to hunt down a rogue vampire who threatens the survival of his dwindling kind. Of course I would find that intriguing. My gut wasn't wrong. I really enjoyed this book [...]

I have a feeling this book was erroneously filed in the literature section of my local bookstore. It should instead be filed under paranormal romances. It was a bit randy in parts, what with the vampire orgies and such. The romance part was pretty well developed, however the rest of the story was somewhat lacking. It's almost as if the author put the romantic story line together and then decided she better throw in something else to thicken it up a bit - give it some thrills and intrigue. Otherw [...]

  • Tessa Clare

EhI finished it, which is a good thing. It was also only $2.99 at the used bookstore just a few blocks away from my apartment. The storyline bothered me, though. At best, it was predictable; and at worst, it was like Twilight and Interview with a Vampire had a baby. You know when authors mash a bunch of things together because they think it sounds cool, even though it might not necessarily make sense? That's how I felt about the plot. Also, Alexander is kind of a d*ck. Team Nicholas all the way.

  • Angela

There really wasn't anything exceptional about this book. The characters were dialogue driven, the plot seemed like an afterthought, and the writing was sometimes repetitive. If you are expecting a steamy romance, compelling plot, or memorable characters, you will be disappointed. 3 stars because it was an adequate filler for a rainy afternoon.

  • Angi

3-4 the plot itself is not that incredible but the characters and how they challenged each other through clever answers was very entertaining.

In meinen Augen 6, setzen.

Typical, predictable storytelling, nothing new or fun. Not entertaining enoughVIEWER'S OPINION:Everything was too ordinary: characters, plot, events, and dialogue. Nothing surprised or delighted me. I was not drawn in emotionally. A couple events near the end annoyed me. There was one thing of interest, many famous sayings quoted throughout the book. In addition, on page 225 Angelica and Lord Jeffrey had a heated debate, throwing historical facts and famous sayings back and forth. That was the m [...]

I almost feel bad for giving this one more star than a few other books, but it's brain candy, and I like brain candy. I read it in 2 sittings, probably a total of 3 or 4 hours, and didn't feel like I'd strained a single brain cell doing so.The odd part was that I'd swear I've read an entire series of books just like this- and previous to 2008, when this was published. But I'm wracking my brain, and I can't for the life of me think of the titles or the authors. But there's an entire series of tra [...]

I should have listen to Nadine who said that this book was boring. *sigh* In fact, this book was nothing but boring. :/At the beginning I thought that it could be a good book because the idea was interesting. But the author was so not capable of handling it well. In fact it seemed like she had no idea at all what she wanted to do with her characterswho are all flat, stereotypes and soooo boring. Even the evil ones. Who aren't really evil if you ask me. Or maybe it was just Hepsen's incapability [...]

It was MAGNIFICENT!!!I definitely recommend it :DAngelica is a wonderful character. She's strong and independent and can surely take care of herself. I very well liked her defiance in the lady like manners as well as her defiances toward Alexander. I loved that Hepsen included the perspective of each character, I thoroughly enjoyed it.The identity of the slayer somewhat surprised me! I was under the impression that it wasI mean sure, it left me hanging at some parts, and by the end I was like ." [...]

My Very 1st Adult Paranormal/Histerical Romance! The review was written in 2009!This book is a SPECTACULAR PHENOMENON, I'd give it 10 STARS!The chemistry between the lead characters, Alexander & Angelica will leave you sufferocating for air. The fire, the intensity, & the devotion for each other is much to be desired for alone. After reading each moment they had shared, my pulse went into hyper-drive. I thought about this book every moment of the day, unable to STOP reading it. After I r [...]

This book reminded me of so many others but was unique as well. Angelica is like Sookie Stackhouse, she can read minds. Also like Sookie and Bella, Angelica falls in love with vampire. Like my new favorite Gardella Vampire Chronicles, it's set in Victorian England.Angelica learns about vampires about 1/2 through the book and struggles with the knowledge. I liked the play between Angelica and Alexander. Angelica's smart but sheltered. Alexander is worldly but guarded. The other characters needed [...]

Angelica is Russisan royalty living in London, she can also hear people's thoughts. Alexander is Russian vampire royalty trying to catcha killer in London. Characters were simple and I didn't feel any spark between them, they were seperated most of the time. The setting was not explained well, vampires exist and walk in the daylight but humans don't know they exist. I felt like a lot of information was missing. The characters spoke and behaved like children. Angelica must marry soon because ship [...]
