"It's okay if I'm a whiny, needy, manipulative, attention-seeking rich b***h. I had a difficult childhood. And I bring donuts to the little people!"Good romance but I found it really hard to relate to the heroine. As a voluptuous redhead with outsized vanity about her feminine charms, Francine is clearly modeled on Joan Holloway on MAD MEN, but the author made her both whiny and boastful at the same time. "She didn't believe in love, never had, never would . . . but she knew how easy it was to e [...]

"You know what's wrong with Anderson's Falling For Her Fake Fiancé?" "Absolutely nothing." (Thank you, Charade's Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant.) This romance novel is a morsel of delight from beginning to end. Ethan and Frances are, each in her own way, closed off from love: again in both cases, thanks to coming from families where love didn't figure much. Their engagement of convenience, physical attraction, and sly suspicions don't stop them from really really liking each other. I love a roma [...]

2.75 starsI never warmed up to the heroine. She was a spoiled little rich girl - woe is me, i am no longer in spotlight now that my brothers have sold the family brewery. How will I EVER survive? That was pretty much Frances mantra through the entire book. Ethan's character was very under-developed, and I don't feel that his baggage received enough attention. Overall, I was underwhelmed by the story.

I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review and here it is.This is the first novel I've read by this author as well as the first novel I've read in the Beaumont Heirs series, and I will admit to thinking I was reading a somewhat altered version of the film Pretty Woman. Ethan, the hero, is the new CEO of the Beaumont Brewery, which has been in the Beaumont family for 160 years, and he's having a very hard time because the employees, who are loyal to the Beaumont family, are [...]

This is my favorite of the Beaumont books so far! I think it's because it is mostly from the viewpoint of the heroine, Frances Beaumont. She puts up a great front as being the beautiful socialite who is tough as nails, but she's really just trying to find her place in the world after the family business has been sold and her latest business venture has failed. Where does she fit in the crazy Beaumont family, and what can she do that will be all hers?Ethan Logan is the CEO brought in to revitaliz [...]

Basically this is a Harlequin Presents story with the roles reversed. The heroine is the one who is complicated and messy and frankly not always a nice person. She's looking to cut the hero's off at the knees since he's now running her family's company. While her brothers have "move on" - the heroine has not; at a loss to identify who she really is if her family name is no longer attached to the running of the family business. The hero is driven and (Lord help him) smitten to the point where he's [...]

She wears a suit of armor but he has the ability to break through it if he can stand for attitude. This is the fifth installment in the Beaumont Heirs and it was a very sweet read. These two characters are going to have one rollercoaster ride at in the end it’s going to be up to them if they stay on of if they get off. Ethan Logan needs help at the Beaumont Brewery it seems that the workers are very loyal to the Beaumont family or it just seems that the workers are just a very sick bunch. He al [...]

I’ve been considerably irked by my latest readings of unknowing virgins just waiting to be plucked by the first sexually experienced man who lit their fire. But this novel features the erotically savvy and aware Frances Beaumont, a redhead who has a fabulous body and knows how to use it to her advantage. So I had high hopes for it.But my expectations for a powerful female central character rapidly soured. As it turns out, Frances’s feminine wiles seem to stop at the bedroom. Outside of it, s [...]

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning. My Thoughts:Fake engagement for the win! This one was a slightly different lead in than I anticipated, with characters that stole the show as well. When we first meet Ethan, we discover he's between a rock and a hard place. He took over the Beaumont Brewery in the hopes that he could bring the company back where it should be, but it didn't work out as expected. The employees are wholeheartedly loyal to the family the company starte [...]

I love the fake relationship turning into a real love connection type of stories. In this story both Ethan and Frances are a bit desperate in their situations, Ethan's more severely so.The interest and attraction are there from the first moment, even though Frances claims she doesn't believe in love. But she likes to be romanced by Ethan, and the game is on. The banter is non stop, and everything is a power game for them. Who will win and who will need to step up the game. But love is often waitin [...]

It's romantic fluff with some steamy bits. If you like Romance books then you'll like this one. It's written fairly well, it's predictable but that's what makes it fun. I assume that since this is in a series they might tie up some loose ends to some of the things mentioned in this book in the others but it does leave you wondering what's up with some of the characters and why some names are mentioned. I give this book a 4/5 stars because it's not super awesome but I still liked it.

  • Eileen

I really liked the story and the characters of Ethan and Frances. It was interesting to watch the dance these two created with each other, and how no one was willing to show their true emotions. But in the end both couldn't help themselves and they showed their true selves. I liked Frances and how she was looking for her old identity and found love unexpectedly. Good comeback from the previous story as well.
