I'm really enjoying this series. While I continued to like the paranormal theme--and the presence of a yeti--I did find the mystery/bad-guy plot to be pretty basic, with no larger meaning or allegorical undertone, really just an excuse to throw people in danger. Instead the focus is almost entirely on the relationships, both new and continuing from book one. None of it was too deep, but I was plenty caught up in it. Normally, the book 2, now-we're-together plotlines don't work for me; a lot of t [...]

Everyone’s working to restore AURA to its previous strength and efficiency while navigating their lives. Recovering from his own loss and failures, Flax is trying to impress Val only to find love in an unexpected direction in this riveting paranormal m/m romance. Once again all the intriguing characters held me hostage from the very beginning, Flex captured my heart with his situation and I am so glad that he met Sage and Ash, also the magical and unique quirks in this world just keep adding t [...]

In Flax's Pursuit, we get three romances. Each one is compelling. However, Flax's romance in some ways gets the least page time and it would have been a stronger book if we got more pages with Ash, Sage, and Flax after their bonding. This is not a stand alone. You really much read the first book in the series to enjoy this one and enjoy it you will. While there is a very well built world and a serial killer magic mystery to be solved, this series is character and romantic love driven. Which I lik [...]

****Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance®****4.5 Stars Flax’s Pursuit is book 2 in the AURA series and picks up shortly after book one ends. While the title leads you to believe this is Flax’s story, a new character in the series, it really revolves around Quinn and Val, as well as Kai and the mysterious Tenzin, just as much.I loved how the mystery of the culprit unfolded, and there were great action scenes fraught with danger and magic, but the real focus were the relationships between all the [...]

In book two, Flax is a newer recruit elf who is crushing on Val. Despite himself, he starts to like Quinn but he still holds out hope. It seems that in the elf world, someone who is dominant like Val would have 4 or 5 "mates" for lack of a better word. Sort of a loose polyamourous group and it's difficult for elves to be alone and they can pine away. However Flax is sent to "rescue" two elves who've fallen through the veil. He becomes friends with them and they start a relationship but he's so f [...]

Reviewer: DianeGenre: M/M Urban Fantasy5 HeartsReview:Picking up after the end of Quinn’s Gambit, Aura and the world are still recovering and rebuilding from the undead lich queen attack. Valerian has taken over the position of Captain of Aura, Kai now runs the research department, Quinn is a contract consultant (even if Kai would like him working for Aura full time) and they have new officers from the academy. Amongst the newer recruits is Flax Wolfheart, a former elf warrior who is trying to [...]

5 Heart Review by VickiWow. There is so much awesomeness in this book I don’t even now where to start! Let me think about this…This is urban fantasy at it’s finest. The story takes place in our world, but it’s our world turned on its head. A badly done magical event has caused rifts to periodically form in the boundary between our world and other realms. This causes magical beings to fall out of their world and in to ours. A government-funded group has been established to manage the assi [...]

This book is part of a series and should be read in order. This book picks up a little after the last. Since then Valerian has taken on the Captaincy spot that was left open after the prior events. Quinn has started working on a freelance basis for the AURA research department. Valerian and Quinn are now living full-time together as the bonded pair they are. The fire between them has not cooled down and they are still sex as hell together. But this story is not only about Valerian and Quinn. There [...]

SQUEE! As stated at the end of my review for book one of this series, I was jumping straight into the sequel, and I wasn't kidding, peeps. I had so much fun with the world Angel Martinez and Bellora Quinn created, and I knew I wanted more. More sexy paranormal species, definitely more inter-species loving, and more of the guys I fell in love with during the previous installment. 'Flax's Pursuit' is book two in the 'AURA' series, and I apologize, but I'm not going to repeat myself as to what all [...]

If you haven’t read Quinn’s Gambit, the first book in the AURA series, you need to. The events from the first book are referred to, and the characters present, for the most part, are established in the first book. There are a few new additions which are great, but the book focuses just as much on Quinn, Val, and Kai as it does on Flax and the new crossovers. Set after the incident with the Lich queen, Quinn and Val are settling into their new lives with each other and at AURA. Val is the new [...]

It felt like I waited forever for this release! Honestly, who didn't? Quinn and Valerian stole my heart and I loved that their practically perfect romance moved past the honeymoon stage and got down and dirty this time. Romance is easy, true love is 2 parts hard work and 1 part destiny and the boys' commitment is tested so watch out world!Flax is my beloved troublemaker with unexpected depths. The kind of guy who hurried his heart under a rock solid layer of sarcasm and a larger than life person [...]

4.5This book was waaaay better than the1st book.I finally saw the love between Quinn and Val now that they were in their relationshipI love the relationship with Flax, Ash, and Sage. was done with taste and most importantly it flowed naturally!! And when Quinn and Val made their decision it fit perfectly and made sensee plot was a hellava lot better as wellis story engrossed me and I held on tightKai and Tenzi's story line was believable and realisticd the bad guy in this one is not the usual wh [...]

4.5 to 5 starsFlax Wolfheart, a young elf with some attitude issues, has a desperate crush on his Captain, Valerian Hartgrove. Too bad Val only has eyes for his beloved Quinn. With the help of two newly arrived valiant warriors, Sage and Ash, Flax plan to seduce Val and Quinn. But maybe what Flax really needs is nearer and fully available…The second book in the AURA series is as enticing and enjoyable as the first one. Even more, because some of the characters are already known and dear to you [...]

Flax's blindnessThis book took me on a journey from start to finish. Flax an elf arrived 4 years ago is now an officer at AURA with a crush on Val, Quinn is trying to learn control and Kai is being his bossy self but pushing his yeti away from over work! This story brings in Ash and Sage an already bonded couple.Flax is a lone elf and requires that something special all Elves need to keep moving. This story was hot from the sex scenes but awkward in the scenarios from the men in the story and the [...]

While I loved this as an extension of book one, in terms of seeing more of how Quinn and Val's relationship develops, it didn't work so well for me in setting up a new relationship between Flax and Ash & Sage. I did like seeing more of Kai, the drow, and Tenzin, the yeti, as well as all the various officers, as they adjust to a new boss.

  • Vicki

A solid entry in this series. Interesting characters, but I would have liked a little more depth for Sage and Ash. The secondary storylines were great. I loved that Kai and Tenzin and Val and Quinn played such a big part in the book.

  • Claudia

another good story and I loved to see Quinn and Val again. the mystery was very well done but I had some troubles with Flax and the relationship side. not bad but it was somehow not really that interesting to me as Quinn and Val

  • Drianne

What does everyone see in Val? "Alpha Elf" is not really doing it for me, sorry. Also, it seems like Quinn, having become so magically super-powered, loses everything that made him unique in the first book. It's still fine, just not what I really liked previously. And it felt sad that Val is having to choose monogamy to make Quinn happy -- because that's what it felt like, a sacrifice on his part. Also Flax and the other two elves, not convincing enough.

  • Kirsten

2.5 stars, rounded up. Ugh, I had hoped this one would be better than the first one, but nope. Same oversexed characters who don't know the meaning of self-control. Seriously, they act like horny 14-year old boys. And the sad thing is that it isn't needed. These books have fairly decent plots and would be so much better if the writers spent more time developing secondary plotlines and characters instead of inserting gratuitous sex scenes and trying to justify them. But no, apparently sex is the [...]

I really enjoyed this series, it's a fun new take on the fantasy genre. For a while there I couldn't understand why Flax didn't see what was right in front of him, but then I realized that I had been standing in that spot myself. It was also nice to gain an insight into Kai and Tenzin's relationship; I immediately saw myself in Kai. I'm glad we both came to before it was too late!Highly recommend this series if you enjoy 21st century fantasy, especially with a law and order twist!

  • Donna

I enjoyed the first book in this series better, but this one was still a great story. I think I loved the parts about Kai and Tenzi the most, but I loved seeing Quinn learning how to control his magic and I really loved Flax's character.

  • Bill

A great followup to Quinn's Gambit. In fact, I liked this one even better.

  • Kristina

Ugh. I expected so much more. The cover is misleading. The characters were all over the place.Barely a 2.

  • Colette

    4.5 ⭐️ Excellent sequel
