Hugo Becomes a HurricaneAll through the first and second installments of this totally delightful series, 33-year-old bookworm Hugo Wainwright has fought to break out of his self-imposed, and socially safe, persona and lifestyle because he has finally found the man whom he wishes to call not only friend, but lover. But he cannot bring himself to think in those terms in late 1940s England, even though his companion Tommy Granger, the estate's groundskeeper, is gently pushing him toward self-fulfil [...]

Hugo & Tommy are back (I simply adore them!). The Poison Pen is another extremely enjoyable mystery tale. What can I say, I totally love the series. Thank you Ms. Aaron!

I think what I loved most about this installment of the Puddletown Mysteries, was how Hugo and Tommy pretty much switched places in their relationship. In The Dead Past and The Coward's Way, Tommy was more confident and outgoing but here we have Hugo stepping up and taking the lead. I think a lot of that has to do with the visit from Tommy's family. Most of us turn back the clock a little towards our childhood when we find ourselves with our parents, and here we have Tommy's mother, sister, and [...]

This shorter story is the third in the series and functions as a "quiet interlude". Light on the murder, death and blood in comparison to the earlier books - our MCs face the usual problems of fostering a growing relationship whilst keeping it on the 'downlow' in post-war 20th century Britain.I did appreciate the significant fleshing out Tommy's immediate family members (mother and sister); the tricky dynamics added by his pious, judgmental and antagonistic brother-in-law. The "drama" instigated [...]

Ah, Hugo and Tommy! I do like this tale of post WW2 Britain. It is not that long ago and somethings were so different. The outside loos, pumping water, rations, general lack of daily things we take for granted. The mystery of the poison letter writer is nicely layered. Tommy's family are initially cool but apart from the odd Daniel, they warm up to Hugo.It is a quintessential cosy mystery and I love hat the writing style just brings old English villages to mind.

Enjoyable whodunit story with no dead body. Hugo and Tommy were good together. I liked them as established couple.
