2.5 Confused by 'switching horse mid-race' stars. What a very strange story that was. I thought I was getting friends to lovers, but then she unexpectedly 'switched horses' and I was left a bit confused. Who is the 'the one?' Who do I want her with? Problem was, I guessed wrong and so didn't get fully invested in the 'right' guy and so that kind of prevented me from feeling the feels. But, putting that aside, I settled back in and enjoyed the sweetness and good smut and banter as much as I could r [...]

2 Stars I had a lot of minor issues with the progression of this story, which if the writing had been better probably would not have bothered me as much, but owing to the fact that that wasn’t the case ultimately made this “romance” fall entirely flat for me. It was a gutsy move to start this novel with the female lead being friend-zoned by a guy who isn’t the male lead. However, this part of the story arc went on FAR too long (around the 30% mark) for such a short romance novel, and whe [...]

I had to actually stop and take a breath after finishing before i could write this review because it just annoyed me so much. Let it be a lesson to me to go with my instinct. I didn't want to finish this book at the half way mark. But I haven't had a great ratio lately and i thought this deserved a chance to get better. Instead it not only got worse AND it ended on a cliffhanger which is just the worst when you hate a book so much but you're also OCD about finding out what happened. In the end I [...]

Thank you to the author, Amy Daws, for gifting me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! It's been a long time since I've read just a straight up realistic fiction romance book. It was a welcome change. Becoming Us follows Fin around college and her relationship with Brody and Jake. Let me tell you, there is tons of drama (I'm a sucker for drama though don't worry).I really enjoyed reading about Fin's life and yes, all her drama. I think what appealed to me most is that all th [...]

'I love us' Awww, this just melts my heart! I loved Brody and Fin. Their story was sweet and sometimes unpredictable. I loved Brody's little notes and I loved Fin's unapologetic character. She wasn't afraid to be a goof, or say what she was thinking, certainly not a pushover or a whiny heroine, which I dislike. I have to admit, I have a soft spot for the bad boy, Jake. I know he was an ass, but there's something about him that makes me think he's not all bad and if Amy wanted to write his story, [...]

Being in a reading slump for the last few weeks, I decided to give this short a go usually some Chick Lit gets me out of it and kicks me in the butt, then I'm right back into my usual MOI must admit firstly that I do like bad books I've discussed this with my fellow booknerds and we have agreed that we need this quote on a t-shirt haha! ;)That being said onto my review for Becoming UsI've given this 3 stars as, although I ended up liking the story in the end, I really struggled to get into it pe [...]

I enjoyed Brody and Finley's romance. They instantly clicked when Brody rushed to meet her at the garbage dumpster and I devoured the pages of this story from that moment on.

This book came highly recommend from a friend, so I was exciting to get stuck in. I'm so glad I took my friend up on this recommendation as this book is a breathe of fresh, quite unlike any thing I've read before. It tells the story of Finley, a college student in her final year she living and loving college life determined to get the full experience - partying, drinking and boys ! And one boy in particular Jake LeShae when he finally decides to notice Finley she thinks it's going to be the star [...]

4.5 rollercoaster starsI have previously read and thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the London Lovers series, A Broken Us, so when I was given the opportunity to read and advanced copy of Becoming Us, it was a no brainer. In A Broken Us, we learned a little about how Fin and Brody became a couple, but this prologue book delves right in there, gives us the nitty-gritty of their relationship. We also hear a lot more about the bit-player in A Broken Us, Jake LaShae. We knew that Fin had a crush on [...]

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest reviewAfter having finished A Broken Us, I needed to read the prequel immediately. I was smitten with Brody and Finley, and couldn't wait to read their story.Oh man, it was pretty much awesome. I actually ended up liking this one much more than the previous book - sorry Liam. It was emotional, but more in a young love angst sort of way. Much easier to read for me, and I devoured this book during every moment of free time I had this last w [...]

Becoming Us is a really interesting book. It is about a girl named Finley who is at college at wants to find a boyfriend that is true to her. Every morning she goes to get coffee and she meets someone named Jake. Jake is a sweet boy and she instantly falls for him. They go out for a couple months until they have a fight. Finley thinks that after this breakup she does not want another boyfriend, but she is wrong. Finley leaves her apartment and Brody who she has never seen before flirts with her. [...]

Finally, the prequel I have been waiting for has arrived. Have I mentioned how much I love Finley and Brody? They are beautifully flawed and that is why I love them. In Becoming Us, we get to see how they meet, fall in love, and deal with relationship issues. There were a couple of times that I wanted to smack them both and tell them to grow up but they figured it out. We get to meet Jake Lashae, the guy who broke Finley’s heart. I hated him and I hated Olivia. I loved the supporting cast of c [...]

4 Platypires for Becoming Us by Amy DawsI've been hearing about Amy Daws from a few of my friends. They've been recommending her books to me and have told me I would like it.I just did not know this was a prequel to "A Broken Us" but I don't feel like I was missing anything major. At least I hope not. After the first couple of chapters with mentions of Marian Keyes and not liking to drink beer I knew that Finely would be a character that I might like. Even though I thought she came across a tad t [...]

I guess two stars isn't exactly a great rating to finish off a year but well. To be honest I really enjoyed this novel. It's just that without reading the first 30 % and the last 10 % it would have been lots better. The epilogue ruined the whole book for me and cost at least 1 star. So yeah the romance itself wasn't exactly bad just kind of cliché and cheesy (but I expected that) and there wasn't any point to the plot - if you can call it a real plot at all.

  • Lisa Mandina

Not bad. Definitely left with a cliffhanger though. But there was a bit from the 2nd book at the end, so now I know I'll be crying when I start book 2.

I really should give up reading NA/YA stories.

It was difficult to follow at times but I liked the story overall. It all came together for me in the end and I really enjoyed it. I loved Brody and their relationship.

I came in to this book blind after reading and loving Challenge, I needed to go back to the beginning and read all the words by this author. Generally the first few books by an author are a little clunky until they find their style voice. Not the case here. This book surprised me, and I love when that happens! I had not read the synopsis; I did not know about the love triangle and did not see it coming. I had not connected with one of the main characters, but figured he would have some redeeming [...]

3.5 StarsReview by Allison East3.5 StarsReview by Allison East I read the book- A Broken Us, the first in the London Lovers series, and this book is the prequel story with more Fin and Brody. I was excited to read the prequel! In this novel we learned all about Finn and Brody's relationship. Knowing how they met, and what part each of their failed relationships played, gave a little more insight into why things happened in A Broken Us. There was also more back story on the player- Jake. Fin had a [...]

This book takes us back to the beginning to see how Brody and Finley first met. It was definitely funnier, and a whole hell of a lot sexier than book 2, and that’s saying something. I mean my God! The sex scenes between Brody and Finley were so passionate and full of longing, it really showed that for them sex was so much more than physical pleasure. For these two it was all about the love. I gotta say though, Finley is a lucky girl that I wasn’t on that college campus too because we would h [...]

My Rating:4.75Favorite Quotes:“This silent game of flirting we’ve been playing for nearly a month now is the epitome of the word bittersweet. Bitter because we don’t speak – sweet because I don’t ever want it to stop.”“Now I, on the other hand, am going to end up married to a gay man. My vajayjay will shrivel up and die because it won’t be properly serviced. I’ll die alone with my fifty cats, my sewing machine, and one fiercely designed moo-moo.”“’Was that a Dexter refere [...]

I received an ARC of Becoming Us. I've read "A Broken Us" by Amy first and loved it so knew I had to read more Brody and Finley. So great to see how it all lead up to where we meet them in "A broken us". If I had it to do over again I think I would recommend reading this, "Becoming Us" first then "a broken us". I felt like I connected more to Brody's character in this book. He is just so undeniably adorably perfect. I may have found my newest book boyfriend. Such a great change of pace. So many [...]

Author Review: I'm super excited to be releasing a PreQuel to Brody & Finley's story! When I first wrote A Broken Us, I eluded to how Brody & Finley met in colleged even some drama that went on there. I had an idea in my head about what their backstory was, but that was it. When A Broken Us released, I couldn't stop thinking about Brody & Finley in college consumed me! So I thought.what if? What if I write a PREQUEL! If Star Wars can do it, surely I can! So that's what Becoming Us is [...]

Becoming Us is a great introduction to Brody and Fin. We get the backstory of how they "love us", we get the ups and down of the beginning, how they meet, the insecurities of the relationship, and the one thing that will change everything about them. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Although you don't have to read this one first before reading the rest, I'm a weirdo that needs to read in order unless I accidentally read them out of order, which has happened. I loved the ang [...]

Listening to this book on audio, I loved it from the beginning! Becoming Us is a great realistic college romance. The Narrator did an excellent job transistioning from characters and pulling you into the story! Amy did a wonderful job on making you want more! The connection between Brody and Finley is intense from the start and you get pulled into the trials and tribulations of making a relationship work! Be sure you have A Broken Us ready to go because you're not going to want to leave the worl [...]
