I was disappointed with A Good Rake is Hard to Find, the first book in the series, but I really enjoyed this one with its engaging characters, charming romance and intriguing mystery elements.Jasper has all the traits I look for in a hero… honourable, charming, kind and patient. I love how he champions Hermione and is so protective towards her. He admires her spirit and sharp wit and I like that he has no desire to change her. I think these words reveal the sort of man he is.“I realize that [...]

Although this wasn't terribly exciting, I really like Manda Collins' gentle, sweet, humorous voice and her very likable lead characters. For that reason I would still give it four stars. It's just the thing if you want a pleasant Regency romance that has characters you would enjoy being around in real life.Reviewed for Affaire de Coeur Magazine. affairedecoeur.

3.5 stars. Overall this was a good, enjoyable read; the main characters were very likable and I liked their close friends as supporting characters. It's one of those books that won't be a reread, but I don't consider the time I spent reading it wasted.Summary. As so often occurs in romance books, the person who wrote the summary didn't read the book (or didn't pay attention very carefully). Lady Hermione Upperton's one love is driving her curicle and she has recently joined the Lords of Anarchy [...]

3.75Hermione, our heroine is the first female to join the all male Lords of Anarchy driving club. We open with her Father gambling away her precious horses (that she bought with her money)to Lord Saintcrow. Hermione is heartbroken and tries to get her horses back. Our hero,Jasper Fawley, the Earl of Mainwaring is also part of the Lords of Anarchy. He and Hermione seemed to have some pull or attraction that each ignored. But Jasper witnesses Hermione Father gambling away her horses and doesn't app [...]

I think I don't like this author's writing style very much. It's rather bland, an unemotional business which leaves me hanging. This leads to me being unconnected to the characters and not really involved in the whole story.

** I received an eARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review **Unlike the first book in the series (which I liked but didn't love) I LOVED this book. Not exactly sure the title accurate - because there is nothing gone bad about the Earl!First of all - the hero is named Jasper. I thought that was awesome. I can't remember the last time I read a hero named Jasper. Lately I have been overwhelmed by Luciens, Gabriels, Jacks and the like. It was truly a refresh [...]

Manda Collins is rapidly becoming one of my favourite historical romance authors. She creates stories that have great characters, interesting mysteries and great love scenes. This is the second book in the Lords of Anarchy series. As with the first book, the witty dialogue is back in full force. Hermione is a strong character and she isn’t a wallflower. In fact, she is the first female invited to join the driving club, The Lords of Anarchy. With her group of friends, she is pulled into a series [...]

  • Kimberly Rocha~ Book Obsessed Chicks

Lady Hermione Upperton has gone against all convention in being admitted membership into the Lords of Anarchy driving club. The lone female in the club sets out for her first outing with the group when her team gets confiscated by the man who won the horses from Hermione's addicted gambler father. Angered and ashamed of what jut happened out in public and full view of the ton, Hermione's friends accompany her away from the park.Jasper Fawley, the Earl of Mainwaring doesn't agree with the Lords o [...]

another great book by Manda Collins. Love the characters.

3.25 StarsGood Earl Gone Bad is an example of a book that had a ton of potential, but never really connected to me. It is the second in the Lords of Anarchy series which centers around a Regency-era riding club that is obviously inspired by the popular Sons of Anarchy TV show. I usually don't read series out of order, but I was easily able to jump into this book. I just wish that the plot and characters had ended up as intriguing as I had thought they would from the blurb.Lady Hermione is the fi [...]

This review was originally posted on Nelle's NightStandJasper might win Hermione's hand in a game of gambling but for a man who excels at mathematics, we all know it was for a purpose. You can see the chemistry between Hermione and Jasper from the very beginning, although they both resist. For her part, she dreamed of him, there was just something about him [...]

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange of an honest reviewIt is interesting how one book to the other our view can change.See, in the first book I didn't feel connection with the couple Leonora and Freddy, despite having enjoyed much of the plot. In this second book I felt sympathy for them.I enjoyed Jasper and Hermione, mainly because at first they could not bear to stay close to each other, but the chivalrous side of Jasper, Earl of Mainwaring, was decisive. It was related to the fact that Hermi [...]

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley. I'm calling it. It's not holding my attention and I am forcing myself to read. To me, that makes it not worth it. Hermione, as we are told constantly, is a very stubborn woman. I can't think of a single instance where she was stubborn. Saintcrow comes to take her beloved horses and she puts up the smallest fight before ultimately giving in. Her father then loses her hand in marriage and she is upset just long enough for Jasper to kiss her. After [...]

This is the second book in the Lords of Anarchy Series. I love reading books in a Series, because you get to catch up on what is going on with characters from the previous books and meet new ones that you will love just as much!!!You will love Hermione and Jasper. !!Manda has done it again!!! Another wonderful love story with lots of plot twists, mystery, suspense and amazing characters. Her writing is a joy to read because her style flows so well, there is no awkward breaks or unnessary clutter [...]

This was quite the adventure, with evil at every turn, and ending with a lovely romance. The characters are warm, loving,(except for the evil guys) not your usual uppity Ton. There are nearly as many bad guys as good guys in this story, but that makes it all the more interesting to read, hanging onto each word, and each page. An enjoyable story, and difficult to put down. The Earl of Mainwaring would be any lady's dream husband, of quiet strength and wisdom, Lady Hermione is certainly not your ty [...]

I have mostly given up on "regency-set historicals" in favor of traditional regencies, but Manda Collins' latest installment looked too good to pass up. It is a good story, full of mysterious twists and a great deal of action. The romance loses a bit of its punch because the main characters are already almost together before the novel begins. At the same time, however, I really enjoyed the story as a supposed marriage-of-convenience without the typical misunderstandings or drama. Instead of the [...]

I think Jasper likes getting his woman all worked up, “in part,”he said, resting his chin on her head. “And also because you let me put my hand up your skirt a little earlier.”When she gasped in outrage, he kissed her. “There’s my girl.” Hermione has so much spirit in her and I loved how at times she could be a tad bit shy, "she smiled shyly and reached out to stroke his chest. “You’re rather a fine specimen yourself,” she said pertly. “And in the interest of fairness you a [...]

Mandy Collins is becoming on of my favorite historical authors. I love a really well written historical romance and Mandy gets it right every time. What i love about these books are her characters are that well written that when you meet them as introductions in the book before you get them already when it comes time to read about them. I absolutely loved Jasper. Everything about him mad me swoon and want more. This is a fast read and doesn't get boring at all.

Easy to read with a familiar story line. Another won at cards romance but with a twist. Well done with some interesting twists.

The tension between them and the climax/resolution were a little weak, but overall I enjoyed this historical romance.

The second in The Lords of Anarchy series and just as good as the first. What I like about Ms. Colllins’ book is that they are not all the same. This book not only has different characters but the story is much different from the first book. No different name, same situation here. Jasper does not like it (he is a bit of a chauvinist at the beginning) but he realizes that Hermione is someone who goes after she wants even in a man’s world. Murder and mayhem dot the pages of this story and it i [...]

An exquisite love story, a captivating mystery, and lovely writing make GOOD EARL GONE BAD a Regency delight! What a glorious day it was for Lady Hermione Upperton! She has just gained admittance to the previously all-male Lords of Anarchy driving club, even though the president is an unpleasant bloke, she is euphoric and she celebrates with her best friends. However, on the day of her first race, to her consternation, her beloved horses are taken away from her publicly; her father lost them in a [...]

First reviewed at Keeper BookshelfLady Hermione is passionate about her horses and her ability to drive them as well as any male. When she becomes an unorthodox member of the Lords of Anarchy driving club she is understandably ecstatic, finally a female has proven that she has skills beyond simpering in a drawing room. When her father, who is addicted to a game of cards loses her team of excellent driving horses to another member of the Lords of Anarchy club, Hermione is furious and heartbroken. „Good Earl Gone Bad“ by Manda Collins is the 2nd book in the „Lords of Anarchy“ series. Those lords are a riding club, an exclusive one. I read the first book and I really liked itLady Hermione Upperton is the latest member of the “Lord of Anarchy” and wants to ride her curricle with her handsome pair of grays but the night before her father didn’t just lose their house but also her grays. • Katinka (Unquietly Me)

GOOD EARL GONE BAD (Lords of Anarchy #2) by Manda Collins is a pleasant, adventurous historical romance. Though I was intrigued by the premise of the novel, I didn't feel the emotional connection between Hermione and Jasper as strongly as I wanted to. The conflict in their relationship wasn't very tense or suspenseful.Hermione is supposed to be a liberated, outspoken woman and somewhat of a trailblazer as the first female driver in the Lords of Anarchy, but her behaviors are hardly outrageous.
