This is an important fic. It's Steter with Genderfluid Stiles, and I've never experienced gender being treated like this in a fic before. Honestly, I was kind of half-crying at the end of it from the kind of acceptance - love - that Peter had for Stiles. I find it hard to believe that anything this wonderful could exist in real life, but fics like this make me hopeful it does.

I love this so, so much. Fair warning, it's Steter, not Sterek. It's also tagged Female Stiles Stilinski, but in this case that's more indicative of the limitations of the tagging system on AO3 (and probably an awesome metaphor for real life too!) than anything. In this, Stiles is trans*. He is biologically female, but identifies as a male most of the time. He has a buzz cut, and wears baggy clothes, and feels like crawling out of own his skin some days. He fucks around with both boys and girls [...]

I fucking love Peter. This made me think.I'm having a bit of trouble though, since the description of Stiles in this fic is pretty much a mirror image of my own child. And yes, that does include being genderfluid. The only thing that differed is that my child has a mohawk and Stiles's head is shaved. This has squicked me out a bit because of the sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, they are hot and, in places, beautiful but I couldn't help but picture my child in some parts. And this is something a pa [...]

I've said it before, but just in case anyone missed it I'm pretty much illiterate when it comes to gender classifications and all things trans related. Like I don't even understand the asterisk. I'm more of the people are people and deserve to express themselves however they wish coalition. But we live in a society that likes to draw lines in the sand and those that cross those lines are labeled "them", "different", so it makes sense for those outside those lines to want to feel a sense of belon [...]

Pretty damn good and really interesting. Read Emma's review because she says it all.

Another marvelous Steter fic from Taylorpotato. The author does an amazing job imagining the experience of a genderfluid Stiles--the frustrations and misunderstandings and ultimately the sheer joy that comes from feeling understood and accepted as your own unique self. You totally buy that it would be Peter of all characters who would figure it out, be turned on by it, and very willing to if not take advantage at least not have any scruples about diving into a sex-buddy arrangement with a teenag [...]

Okay, it took me a while to review this book, because it was just amazing on so many levels. Let me start of by saying Iusedto think fanfic is substandard writing by amateur wannabe writers and should be avoided whenever possible. Then I discovered Sterek and all its many delights, and totally changed my crap opinion. I have discovered (free) fan fiction that is actually miles better than many of the books I pay good money for. It is sometimes even edited better and more professional than books [...]

getting pretty sick of disappearing reviews, actually.i'm not writing this one for a third time.

I popped my genderqueer cherry. Taylorpotato, you motherfucker. You are a genius.

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed the gender fluidity of this story! Big thanks to Emma's review for bringing this to my attention.

There aren’t a lot of stories for people like me. Over the years, it’s just a thing you get used to. Which is what makes these stories so important when they do come along. It’s a little hard for me to be objective on this one or to separate my feelings about the Steter from my feelings about genderfluid/genderqueer Stiles. That said, the relationship was so satisfying to me. We see Stiles and Peter go through a series of careful disclosures. They drift into emotional intimacy and commitmen [...]

Stiles as genderfluid/trans and Peter, who in spite of being a former psychopathic murderer, as the most loving and accepting of Stiles. Best summarized by this quote: "Peter’s basically Satan and he doesn’t misgender me, why can’t the rest of you manage that?" Like, if you need a trans story done right, this is it.

  • Sandra

I'm having trouble verbalizing the awesomeness that is this story. I have 29 highlights in a story that is 31 pages long. It's a romance, but it's so much more than that. It's about Stiles' journey in finding himself and becoming comfortable with that person. I don't usually like to see a MC having on-page sex with other people, but it was totally necessary and appropriate to fully get inside Stiles' head and to appreciate how fucking phenomenal Peter is. Of course, I would have loved it to be a [...]

Steter with gender-fluid Stiles.Steter isn't popular with everyone, and I generally avoid changed gender fics myself - but really rec. people try this fic. While taylorpotato is a good writer I associate his fics with a certain vibe (and often daddy-kink) that'll either work for you or not. Here the tone vividly sets out who Stiles is and the conflict there.Regardless of biology for the most part Stiles is a boy. His attitude is all male. I liked how his frustration and confusion was shown and al [...]

hey guys, Peter's basically Satan and he doesn't misgender me, why can't the rest of you manage that?I was unsure about this as I started reading. Not about the subjects but how it would be handled.Let me allay your fears: this is done very well. Peter the jerkhole sees Stiles for the person they are, the entire person. He's hot for every aspect, every part. He relishes every delicious minute he spends with Stiles.Stiles is living with all the crap teenagers live with, but one of those is not se [...]

The gender fluid confusion, and handling thereof, was really interesting. I've only ever heard or read about it once. So I found that aspect to be really engrossing. I'll admit, the pronouns confused me, and some of the times when Stiles or Peter referred to his (view spoiler)[clitoris as a cock and the ignoring of the vagina, even though it was being used at the time (hide spoiler)] confused me.The referencing of Stiles' period as "Shark Week" was wholly off putting. Just sayin'.Also, I hated t [...]

3.5 stars. Stiles (aka Stella) has gender issues and the only person that treats him right is Peter Hale.'Some days, being a girl is rad. Vaginas are rad. Tits are rad. Other mornings though, everything just feels wrong. It feels like Stiles woke up in someone else’s body. It feels like they’re supposed to have a flat chest and a cock—and it’s fucking confusing.'

  • Maiko-chan

My first taylorpotato fic and WOW O.O that was pretty amazing. And hot. This was excellently done. Thank you for the rec Vivian!!!Favorite Quotes: It strikes him as odd that nobody has ever asked that before, when it seems like an obvious question.--“Are you offering to cuddle me?”“Yes.”“You’re so creepy.”

  • Brooke

2.5 This was ah not for me. I started this book and almost immediately put it down when I figured it may just not be my type of story but then kept on reading and started to enjoy it more. Peter was awesome, loved him so much in this one. BUT I like my Steter to involve less vaj. I would have been happier if Stiles was just trans. Personal preference aside, I liked how the author handled everything.

  • Onyx

Ok, TaylorPotato. I'm a fan. Because genderfluid!Stiles is awesome and I never thought I'd actually, honestly, in good consciousness, root for Steter. So, wow.

  • Karen Wellsbury

I haven't read many books that deal with gender fluidity, but I found this to be sympathetic to Stiles, and thought provoking.

  • Anna Kļaviņa

Mm, this is for sure now, this author isn't for me. Shame. Because I really wanted to like this fic, I mean how often one can find a story with a gender fluid character?

  • Manda

<3This was my first Steter. Won't be my last. Also, this author, fuck, gotta have some more.

  • K

Steter with genderfluid Stiles and Peter being the only one to except them as they are without trying to change them

  • Mj

    This was brilliantly done
