The Strontian Factor is an exciting, tension building, and artfully constructed plot with plenty of action, drama, twists and turns and an intriguing and thought provoking storyline.Jamie Strachen is visiting Scotland for the funeral of his brother in law Bob Ferguson whose death seemed a tragic accident but what was the meaning of Bob’s final words for Jamie and was his death more sinister than it seemed. On Tyneside, Detective Chief Superintendant Clive Patterson is called to attend an incid [...]

This is a cleverly written story with perfectly gauged amounts of intrigue and mystery. Jamie Strachan, a soldier within the intelligence core, cannot help but feel that there is more than just coincidence connecting two accidents, one involving his brother in-law and the other involving himself and his nephew Nick. Pushing his instincts as an analytical thinker aside, he tries not to dwell on what has happened, but is unable quell his thirst for an answer believing there is something not quite [...]

I don't often write reviews, but the poor editing in this book deserves a mention. The punctuation was atrocious and — for me, anyway — spoiled what was otherwise an intriguing plot. Little things like that do matter and could easily have been fixed by engaging a proper editor. The storytelling was a bit muddied as well, and the character development was thin. These were interesting people, and I would've liked to know more than just superficial details.

I finished this book and I was left with the feeling that it could have been better. If it becomes part of a series (as the central character Jamie Strachan deserves) it will almost certainly allow other aspects of his character to be discovered. Wife died of terminal illness, ex-army career, currently employed by the government "Cockpit" : an almost routine novelistic scenario but superimposed on that are the particular skills he brings to bear (on behalf of his country) and the skills of his a [...]

He tasked, with finding a link between the death of his brother-in-law to an ex-Fallschirmjäger.As the story unfolds, we being to feel that all these incidents are not merely coincidence, but there’s a possibility that it’s all been a set up.The book is thrilling and story really builds up. I really enjoyed this book from the start. It was fast paced, well written, and the characters were developed beautifully. Forbes did a great job keeping the reader engaged, as I didn't want to put this book down. The writing style was perfect for this book, as it kept you guessing what was coming next all the way to the end. I look forward to picking up the next book by Forbes, as I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Excellent read. Fast moving and pacey. An excellent Good V Evil story with a twist! This was a hard book to put down. So often you read a book, the ending of which is pretty predictable. Not so with The Strontian Factor. This one will a stay with me for a very long time.

Very readable, enough clues to keep you interested without being too obvious and many twists and turns to point you in the wrong direction. Could not have predicted the ending.
