Wonderful conclusion to a great fantasyI received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.Emily has certainly done ite world is a mess and it's her fault. She struggles, along with the few "Lucent" people left to try to end the horrible mess she created. I could not put this book down. It had me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what would happen. The suffering everyone has to go thru just to get by in their everyday life was a nightmare. No one was safe. The [...]

Great conclusion to a really good series! Emily is all alone. The Apocalypse has begun and people are turning to the darkness. Their souls are lost. Only Emily can end the darkness but she needs help and she has to overcome her doubts. She needs an army to help her, but has a small group of Lucents to help her. Will it be enough? Add to all that pressure and the guy she loves is still not speaking to her and she has to save her best friend. I still love Emily. She has grown and changed through t [...]

I super loved that Emily is such a strong female central character. She is tough as nails and makes superheroes look like fuzzy stuffed animals. Emily is also a good problem solver. She anticipates problems and explains her thought process as she comes to a solution. This is such a wonderful skill for middle grades to learn; coming to it through a book is a great model.I received this book to review. The opinions shared here are 100% mine.

Alright. I'm going to consider this a part review for book 2, but also for book 3. I am having trouble still learning this site, and my personal review for book 2 was half way through the book.Long story short- Book 2's start was horrible, though explained later on, that her increase in boredom and negative thoughts was actually the result of a dark god, of sorts. So- despite still hating the opening of book 2-- the rest of book 2 was spot on. Emily paid every second and every moment for what sh [...]

This is the third and concluding book in the Akasha Chronicles series. Another year has passed and Emily is now seventeen. She has returned from the Umbra Perdita and the Apocalypse has been unleashed. People are turning from the Light and being consumed by the Dark and losing their souls. Evil abounds. Everyone is living in fear and all of Emily’s friends have deserted her.And then one day, Greta shows up on her doorstep asking for her help to fight Ciardha. Emily and Greta work together gath [...]

I was kindly given all three books in this series, and you really do need to read them in order to appreciate the final novel. As YA fiction goes it was a pleasant series that was easy to read. My only criticism is that Emily starts out at 14, which as we all know is a little young for YA. Most teen readers like to read about characters older than themselves, so it might not appeal to as bigger audience as it deserves. From a writer’s perspective, as Emily was young, she was a little bit annoyi [...]

Emily's Heart is the third book in the trilogy by Natalie Wright. She manages to free Fanny and is back with Jake by the end of the book. One of her thoughts at the end of the book is about what her dad said. I love this passage, "Governments never solve problems, people do. So I guess it is up to us to figure it out." Although the three books of the Akasha Chronicles are fiction and very good fiction, it is so true what this character says at the end of the story, it is the people that make the [...]

Overall I thought this did a great job finishing Emily's story and tying up the loose ends, although I thought Jake could have been put through a little less torture. I thought the short chapters describing the fates of other individuals outside of Emily's core group were well done. There were just enough to give you an idea of the impact of Ciardha's reign on the general population, but not too much that it detracted from the main plot. It was also interesting watching Emily and Jake grow up. O [...]
