I have a sweet spot for young love that lasts- probably because I married my high school sweetheart. I was sixteen, he was eighteen and I knew he was ‘it’ for me. I just knew. Taylor and Alex just knew. One of the things that I loved about their story was…we get their HEA in the beginning. How cool is that?No wondering. No worrying. No angst. This could be a major turn-off for some, but it was exactly what I was looking for on a lazy Sunday afternoon. This would be a lovely beach book!Thei [...]

Unintended follows the lives of Alex & Taylor. The book switches scenes from the past and the present. We begin in the present with the MC's being married and having just bought their new house together. We follow them through the everyday trials of life. The stresses, the fights, the making up. I loved these glimpses into their current life. It made the relationship feel very real to me. When we were in the past it was a sweet, sweet coming of age story. Alex was the new kid in school and w [...]

3.5 StarsI’ve become quite a fan of O’Shea’s stories over the past year or so. She writes such sweet M/M stories, with low angst, lots and lots of lovey-dovey romance, featuring loveable characters who I just want to gobble up. This story was no exception. Interestingly told, this story sort of starts at the end, showing the MCs, Taylor and Alex, married and happy in their lives together a decade after the main story of their meeting and falling in love in high school. I took comfort in kn [...]

No le pongo una estrella porque no lo hago nunca La verdad es que no hay por donde cogerlo, es sencillamente malo.

It's no secret I love M.J. O'Shea's boys and Alex and Taylor are no exception. These two were so freaking adorable. It was so obvious they belonged together. They had known it since the night they met.I loved how the story started with them in the present, then we got to go to their past and see them meet. From Alex and his crush on the cute boy in the snow to Taylor coming to terms with the fact that his feelings were for a boy, this was just adorable and had me in the biggest puddle while I rea [...]

Where Unintened succeeded: Unintended is a totally predictable coming of age providing the awkwardness and excitement of first love that left me sated for an afternoon. O'Shea did a nice job of captivating the essence of being a teenager who is finally intrigued with someone, but doesn't recognize that this feeling is want. Nor do they know how to proceed with this feeling, but discover that stumbling through, sometimes works out. Where it failed:The writing lacked. On the technical side, the au [...]

This was such a cute, sweet story. I loved it.The relationship between Alex and Taylor is quite adorable. They start off as friends but with the sparks between them they quickly become lovers and fall in love. It was nice seeing some of how they were friends first and to see how much they had in common before their relationship progressed. Forewarning, though, there's flashbacks. While I usually get annoyed by them, they just seemed to work for this story because there was always a little time s [...]

  • Sandi ♥'s way too many M/M books

Ok This was so freaken sweet. I loved the back and forth past/presant.

M.J. O'Shea does stories about the rush of first love and discovery like no one else. She's an insta-buy author for me, for sure. This story was so friggin' cute I have no words.

  • Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!)

This is one of those feel good books. One that you can pull out and read after a really tough to get through angsty one.We get to meet these guys when they meet each other for the first time. So we can honestly say that we've been with them since the beginning. This story switches POV and also from past to present but it's not a head spinning omg I don't know what I'm reading kind of switch. It worksally well. It's a sweet, loving and yet it's a tad sexy coming of age story! I'd recommend to eve [...]

There isn't really a whole lot here. Not enough romantic build up, not enough communication, not enough Corn-free romance. Some instabuddy, instabond, instalove stuff going on, then some idiotic near-misses that serve to piss the reader off, then some stubborn refusals to get on with it. I wanted these two to get together, but I felt they stupidly suffered because of their own moronic choices, and that kinda pissed me off.

That was cute. Very sweet, nice steam and a tiny bit of angst. Cute.

A very sweet book and the characters were great. I Loved it

3.0 StarsUnintended follows the lives of Alex & Taylor. The book flashes back between the past (high school and college years) and the present. It starts in the present with Alex and Taylor happily married, which, in effect, eliminates a lot of angst since we know right off-the-bat that they end up together. Regardless, the story was entertaining, which is saying a lot since I'm not one for YA books and I really don't like flashbacks. Both Alex and Taylor are loveable and I found myself root [...]

Sweet coming of age m/m story. Had some trouble initially with the beginning writing style, not that it was poorly written, just a different style. Also, thought some of the back and forth/ past and present flash backs sometimes hindered the flow of the story. All in all a cute love story about two boys who started off as friends and became something more. I'd also recommend Enlightened Little Boy Lost by JP Barnaby if you are looking for more coming of age m/m stories written for adults.

  • Lori

A cute little time-split read about Taylor & Alex and the live they've shared for a decade. From a tentative beginning where Taylor was afraid to let anyone other than Alex know how he felt, to moving in together. We see the highs and lows of true love.

  • V

OMG this story was freaking cute.Stay away if you don't like a really sweet story, gorgeous charming couple and a delightful ending.

I have a special place for coming of age stories in my heart, they are usually sweet stories, and the main characters are pure and innocent, and I’m not referring to a mere physical thing, they are innocent in their heart, with their feelings on surface, and so easily to be hurt. For this reason, I admit that, most of the time, when I open such a story, I almost immediately skip to the last page, to see if it’s an happily ever after plot, if these young men will be able to overcome all the o [...]

The moment Alex played the song in the book, I knew what song inspired the author. I love the story as much the song. I would give this one 3.5 stars! It's the story of Taylor and Alex, who are currently married and just moving in to a house they've renovated. Told in flashbacks, it's the story of how they met in high school and fell in love. I loved the flashbacks! I love Young Adult and Coming of Age stories. The current storyline didn't do much for me though. Other than confirming for us very early on that things do work out for these two long term, I don't think it did much for the story.

  • Arch Bala

I absolutely loved this one! It’s very tender and I loved that it didn't really get complicated with all the cant-come-out and family scenarios. It’s just so beautiful! I loved Alex and Taylor so much!!! This is a signature M.J. O’Shea story. What a really feel good story! This is the kind of YA story that I rarely see now because they’re all angsty and shit these days.

  • Camille

Awkward/awful tell not show writing but a cute story buried under poor writing skills. The stars are for my enjoyment of the tale itself.

  • Isabel

It feels good read a book like this! Beautiful, lovely, sweet, great characters and no angst! Loved it!!!

  • Aiko

This wasn't all bad for being made out of sugar, honey, syrup, puppies and unicorn-tears. Still too cute and cuddly for my taste.

  • Bárbara

1.5I'm so mad at this book. It had everything for me to like it but it was so poorly excecuted that it didn't do anything. The writing was no better than my own fics. And the editing was really poorly done. I will see if I can find something cool to get rid of the frustration.

  • WhatAStrangeDuck

I'm not going rate this because it would be kind of unfair. I'm not a fan of straight-up Romance (with a capital R and, no, no pun intended) and I wouldn't have gotten it, if it hadn't been a freebie. I like my HEA but I'm happier with books where some external forces (or forces the characters can't control, anyway) are influencing the story. So, my personal rating would be two stars because it was ok. I read it because I needed a filler and I finished it.On a purely Romance (TM) level it would [...]

First time I read this author and must say I have signed on for a few more already. Taylor and Alex are the cutest. After one evening they find they have so much in common and become fast friends. The next thing Taylor knows he is holding Alex's hand during 'movie night'. It just feels right and after that night he shyly admits to himself and Alex that Alex is his 'boyfriend'. The story is mostly their senior year in HS together and the development of the their relationship but there are moments [...]

I really enjoy first love stories, and this one was no different. The back and forth time-hopping wasn't the best I've ever seen - it wasn't terribly annoying, but I'm not sure it was necessary as lead-ins to the telling of the past. The telling of the original story would've been great by itself, and seeing the future gave away some things that might have increased suspense when reading the past. But, that said, I still loved the story and felt the love.
