Humorous, well-written. I enjoyed the world and the author's voice, and would definitely read another zombie story by him in the future.

It's the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend at Parnassus Preparatory Academy for Troubled Adolescents, aka Paranoia Prep, and most of the students have gone home to spend it with their families. Except for Cassie. It's not revealed why Cassie has stayed behind, but it's not important in this short story. If we meet her again, then I may have the urge to find out. She is startled when the Zombie Job Squad comes by her room to clean the floors. At first, she's a snarky little teenager looking down her n [...]

Entertaining and intriguing. The idea is original and the characters are very well written. At Thanksgiving, a human girl named Cassie and a sentient zombie were trapped in a campus crowded with a bunch of bloodthirsty zombies, and their booming friendship brought these two different beings closer. Reggie the zombie actually cared for Cassie and helped her escape from those crazy zombies, but what would happen to both of them when Reggie started losing his mind? Without food, the hunger might dr [...]

Free from , this YA zombie short story is just what I needed for a little Thanksgiving holiday cheer. Fischer writes teenaged zombie fiction that's fun and entertaining, and this story is no exception. Nicely done.

  • Kayla Eklund

Zombie Thanksgiving is a short but enjoyable story about Cassie, a student at Parnassus Preparatory Academy for Troubled Adolescents, who has stayed behind in the dorms over Thanksgiving break. It’s set sometime in the future (post-2018), after several zombie outbreaks, and after the discovery of The Cure that allows zombies to regain semi-normal function in society. I’m not well-versed on the zombie genre, but it’s a twist that I haven’t encountered before. Zombies who have had The Cure [...]

Going in, I knew "Zombie Thanksgiving" was only 24 pages so I tried to prepare myself for an extremely short story. The writing was so good, but it was still just way too short for me though. It's good that "Zombie Thanksgiving" left me wanting more but also bad because I had so many questions. I would have liked more background on the zombies and the main characters. What happened to them next? I might never find out!! This is why short stories, in my opinion, are so difficult to pull off. Read [...]

    A quick fun read.

  • Sarah

Disgusting descriptions, a cute almost-romance. I really enjoyed this one.
