We know little of world literature. It is not entirely our fault. Very few of the books written in other languages are translated or distributed. One of the offshoots of Communism was the availability of Russian literature. Beautifully produced and translated books in Russian were available at subsidised rates to us. Through one such agency that specialised in Russian Literature - Punjab Book Centre - I read many wonderful books by Pushkin, Nikolai Gogol, Anton Chekov, Fyodor Dosteovsky, Maxim G [...]

Chuck and Geck are two little boys who live with their mother in Moscow, while their father works far away, deep in the taiga. One winter, when a letter arrives from Father to say that there's too much work to allow him to come to Moscow to visit them, the two brothers are very disappointed—until they are told the second part of the missive: that Chuck, Geck and Mother should go to Father instead. And this sets the three of them—especially Chuck (who collects every little bit of possibly han [...]

Propaganda, which means 1 star (ok, it means 0 star, but there's no such option :P ). Kids could probably like the plot, but I still think there shouldn't be propaganda in children's books.
