Have you ever clucked disapprovingly at people who read books as they walk down the street? Well, that was me today, holding on to my Kindle as I occasionally glanced up to ensure I wasn't going to slam into anyone. Why? Because this book was so good, I couldn't wait to see how it would end. I've read a few ghost stories lately which left me confused and very disappointed by their lack of originality. Seriously, I was ready to cross off ghost/possession stories from my list. This, on the other h [...]

i like this story but the ending is kind of confusing to me. is alphie now living with noer in the limbo? and is she back to her original self? i.e. a 'leech' as well? i wonder what the next book is going to be like

Thanks to Penelope for the free copy!Original review can be found at That Artsy Girl's BlogRating:Okay, first things first. Sure, the blurb is kind of big and a little too informative. When I pick up a book, I want the blurb to be enticing without revealing everything about the story. So, yeah, I wish they’d shorten up the blurb. Now, moving on to the actual story, I have to say that the first 15% or so of the story didn’t hook me in. It was sort of cliche and the writing was forced and stil [...]

Phantasma is a Young Adult Fantasy Romance set in our modern world. It follows the story of Alphie, a young girl suffering from Narcolepsy. This condition causes her plenty of misery in school and her social life, and leads to two specific girls bullying her. The book starts with Alphie and her sister holding a yard sale, where Alphie discovers a mysterious amulet. The amulet is the catalyst for Alphie discovering that there is more to her world than she ever suspected, and that it also holds cl [...]

I've never read a paranormal romance and wasn't sure if I'd like this genre. Phantasma, however, was a great read. I loved the story, I was intrigued with the concept, and the plot twists kept me guessing. I had great sympathy for the characters; they were well thought-out and grew during the story. Penelope Reece is still developing her style--some paragraphs are written brilliantly, others are a bit uneven. With a little editing, Reece could have a five-star book.Phantasma will appeal to the Y [...]

4.5 STARSSo.I was given a copy of this book by author for an honest review. First I'll say that I did like this book very much. The thing is that it confused me on many levels. When it first began, I didn't know what was going on. Gratefully, things were explained as the book progressed. Some things I were able to guess, others I was flabbergasted by. Everything didn't occur as I would liked it to have though. Another thing, I found the book to be very creative. I don't think it was like anythin [...]

From the moment I read the description of the book I was really excited to read it! Firstly, the coverart is purely awesome. Secondly, I looove paranormal romances (ekhem, the ones with innovative and interesting plot). If it comes to the story, there were a few plot holes or things that suddenly (in my opinion) appeared from nowhere (like the sudden knowledge about everything in Limbo). The characters were complex and well written, interactions between them were interesting. I have only one compl [...]

Penelope!!! You're awesome!!!I love love love love LOVE Phantasma! Its a great read and I finished this in an hour. HOUR!!I love Alphie and I was kinda shocked because she wasn't really human.I liked the fact that Alphie and Noer are the same.I was frustrated with the starting because I couldn't really understand some of the parts because it wasn't really clear. However, as the story progresses, the writing style is much clearer, the characters have depth and I love and fear the setting of Limbo.I [...]

Just finished Phantasma and found if very intriguing and suspenseful. Enjoyed the story line very much. I could relate to Alphie and the trials she faced each day, feeling insecure and being bullied in school. Her life clearly took a turn when she found her grandfather's necklace. The story line keep me wanting more and more right up to the end, which mind you, really takes an unexpected turn. Love the character flow, just held me captivated. Highly recommend.

After reading the premise, I was unsure of whether I would like it. I gave it a shot, and I'm so happy I did. I enjoyed it very much.

Disclaimer: I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinionThe premise of this book is really different from other paranormal books. Unfortunately I found the book to be too confusing, and not in the good way. Alphie, the protagonist (who has an awesome name), is confused - which would translate in to the reader being confused also since the book is told from her POVbut no, Alphie's confusion is due to denial. She tends to blame others - Papa, Liana, etc - instead of trying to [...]
