“I’ve been able to see all that I’ve needed, my love: your kindness, your compassion, your tenderness, your love, and your soul. These are all I care about. Of course you do and I don’t expect anything different from you. But next time, I will give you more. You’ll see the colours of every season.”Gosh so beautiful! <3It has been a loooong time since I read a book as beautiful and sensible as this one.I've finished it in a day and I enjoyed every bit of it.The characters appear re [...]

I read Jacquie Underdown's romance novel The Paler Shade of Autumn as part of the AWW2013 Challenge. Jacquie and I connected online because we have similiar interests in spiritual matters, and Jacquie thought I might like her novel as it deals with the spiritual life so she offered me a copy in exchange for an honest review.Jacquie was right - I did like her novel! The Paler Shade of Autumn is a romance first and foremost, but in the story Autumn and Jet's spiritual beliefs are just as important [...]

How much do I love this book? Very much! It is essentially romance and yet it offers so much more! I like how it features underprivileged countries, the essence of volunteerism and philantrophy and the lessons in karma and most importantly, the season of autumn. I also like how the cover does justice to the character It is indeed something when people from first world countries experience poverty in the 3rd world. I am glad this is featured in the book and explored. I also like the exploration o [...]

This is a beautiful book. There is a fey quality to the descriptions of people and places, an other worldliness that when I think about it is less other worldly than seeing deeper into the world we live in. It's written in present tense, which I generally find difficult, but in this instance it works brilliantly. The immediacy of the characters' experience steps forward.I was somewhat reminded of the Australian author Tahlia Newland and her magical realism. There is the same straightforward simp [...]

When I bought this I loved the cover. When I read it I enjoyed Autumns ability and how she developed throughout the story. I loved the ending, but enjoyed the secret she found out. I really felt for her through the story and her connection with Jet is powerful.I enjoyed Jacquie's voice and would definitely read more from this author.

I don't normally read books that contain elements of the super natural, however I'm glad I did with this one. This is very well written with some beautiful scene setting. The main characters had me hooked and I enjoyed watching their love blossom. Great weekend or holiday read.

Autumn Leone has a strange ability - when she touches people with her hands, she receives uncontrollable images of their life and desires. When Autumn wins a holiday to India, a chance encounter with an aged women, who's experienced horrific events, results in Autumn almost breaking down from the flood of images. She's rescued by Jet Stark, a volunteer at a local orphanage, and whom she falls completely in love with. Refusing to be the cause of him leaving the orphange, Autumn reluctantly severs [...]
