While I liked the idea of this story and it definite had some serious and meaningful subject matter to cover, the execution of it didn't work as well as I would have liked.Armas was raped as a child but never told anyone, till it all became too much, he told a friend and then fled the country cutting all ties.He meets Takeo and they start a relationship, although it starts very dramatically.Armas has a lot of issues to deal with and really most of his healing and falling for Takeo takes place in [...]

This had the potential of being a big-time 5+ star hurt/healing/comfort book, but the author chose to skip over all the healing aspects of the journey between the MCs and jumped ahead a year in the book and gave us a part 2. I would have much rather read about the year that was skipped, but I still enjoyed this tale of a lost and broken soul finding love and comfort in a foreign country with a kind and gentle man.Lovers of M/M healing/comfort books will definitely enjoy this book, and I can whol [...]

Reading this a bit out of order. Winter Love tells Lasse and Marko story and they show up in this book. It's written a bit of yaoi novel style. I didn't hate the story but there were moments where I just rolled my eyes about how cliche the sexual abuse and depression sounded. I just couldn't take it seriously the way it was written. The story felt a bit rushed which also kind of deflected the seriousness of what happened to Armas.

DNF. So. Very. Cliche. Had such high hopes for this one. Just every rape recovery cliche you can imagine has been stuffed into this so far and I'm not even half way through. Lost count of the number of times I have rolled my eyes at this point. May come back to it but abandoning for now.

Some of the images in this story were as lovely as the manga - and thinking of this as a "manga analogue" is a good way to consider it. It's a quick read, took me about forty-five minutes, and it skims across the surface of details the reader might prefer to have expanded at greater length. However, being a quick read, that's not the direction the story takes. This was a sweet, seasonally themed tale centered around the redemption of love. I especially enjoyed Tooru, the pushy cousin of Takeo, wh [...]

I made the mistake of reading the reviews before the story. That is a habit that I continuously swear I'm going to break. So I went in with the preconceived notion that (a) I wasn't going to like the story because of the abuse factor and that (b) the story was going to nudge against the lines of unbelievability. I was wrong on both accounts. The character's past experiences were handled without delving into areas I didn't want to wade through, and the character's reactions to his past didn't see [...]

An unexpectedly sweet but incomplete story. There's a definite yaoi novel feel to the story. I rather liked the story of Armas and Takeo. The story's a little too short to build on the relationship and a lot of the development is done behind the scenes, including the healing process.I could feel Armas' pain. It's a little unfortunate that I couldn't see more of Takeo's role in Armas' healing and acceptance of his sexuality.

1.5 stars - The story just didn't flow very well, the style of writing and plot pacing and inconsistencies not helping in the least.
