The author is not as solid with the editing as I would have preferred. My biggest issue with self-published authors is their editing, rather their lack of it. Why they don't get help I don't know, but help is out there. Free help at that. I know a lot of readers who would gladly edit a novel for a chance to read it first and for free to boot, me being one of them. Anyhow, I am digging this book, in spite of the fact that I loathe first-person stories. So, I'm back with more complaints [Possibly S [...]

Historically accurate, which I love that in a book. But there was little to no character development. Stone and Zayla had nothing to overcome besides the obvious racism. There were no internal or external factors to build on besides that. And there almost impossibly fast love connection, that is hard to believe since all they seemed to do upon meeting was argue and then later on have sex (nearly every scenes together). I liked the plucky heroin but she had very little else going on in her intern [...]

Zayla is a runaway slave who tricks her way onto a ship about to leave port by pretending to be a boy. Stone figures something is definitely amiss with the new cabin boy and soon discovers a lot is hiding under those baggy clothes.I like the story. It was new, different but the relationship needs a bit more of a foundation. I can understand the automatic love thing for supernatural because of the whole recognizing your mate thing. But for humans we need a bit more. The couple has to deal with ra [...]

I liked this book, some times I was confused about who was talking because the author would switch characters with no warning. I loved the beginning of the book the way Zay and Christopher fell in love. Zay was a smart beautiful character and Christopher was a very good male lead I just wish the author would have made more of their relationship than just sex.

I am still gushing over this book!I loved the interaction between Stone and Zayla. I felt like the author captured the times, and I wasn't bombarded with a time period most of us people of color want to forget, or at least not dwell on the negatives parts of it. If I did, I would be one angry woman. I feel like she did a wonderful job on the way the characters spoke too. That has to be fricken hard, to write that way.The love felt between Zayal and Christopher was real, and the ending actually m [...]

The premise of the book was interesting-a black slave kills a white man in 1863 and then boards a ship and is mistaken for a young boy. I'm thinking hmmmis would have alot of potential for something different. Now throw in the heroine with ideas of a 21st century woman who aurgues with the ship captain, demands to teach a crew member to read, a few dashes of low self esteem and sprinkle ridiculous mood swings here and there - and Voilà! The hero was a saint to deal with her and her mess.I give [...]

All I can say is Excellent, Excellent! I love this book. This history teacher Me: hehe :-) also loves Ms. Infanté's historical accuracy of the time period. YAY! I want me an Alpha male just like Christopher! This is definitely on my keeper shelf to read again and again! Bravo and two thumbs up, Alexandria! ;-)

I really liked this book! It needs some proofreading but the storyline was really good. I loved the chemistry and the steamy love scenes with the main characters. The side characters were nicely fleshed out as well.

I'm really not into the IR romance, but this was pretty good. I probably gave it a 3 stars, because this genre really isn't my forte, but my friend was screaming that I needed to read it; so I did.
