This book is juvenile at best. The characters lack any true substance. Even their back stories need improvement. The plot is not smooth. There were lulls that could have been covered up with background information. You never do find out how the main character is chummy with the "doctor" who has no name. He does have a name but it is only mentioned once but they just keep calling him/her doc. The speed at which the relationships transpire in this book is also unbelievable. The author also did not [...]

You know, I’ve been sort of harsh with my ratings on zombie books lately. Maybe because there are so many to read, maybe because I have actually read so many, or maybe it’s just because it is still one of my favorite genres but I have read so many lately that I am starting to get bored! So, it was with an ample amount of trepidation that I set out to read this. When I found it I was excited but that excitement bailed on me before I could even open to page one!! Fortunately for me, and for man [...]

I've been a huge fan of this writer ever since reading Agartha's Castaway and this one didn't disappoint. It starts off pretty fast paced:Dean is young man leaving in world infested by zombies, but it wasn't always like this. Before a virus claimed the world and most of its inhabitants, he led a sheltered life with his parents and brother, Nick. Nick is a pilot now, who risks his life on a daily basis to help those who haven't been infected yet by keeping them safe. Dean has always looked up to [...]

I wanted to like this book more but I couldn't. The plot seemed okay but I never felt connected with the characters. Though there were zombies it seemed more of a romance storyline. Dean and Jackie pairing up, then Claire and Nick then they ran across a friend of Deans who just so happens to like Dean and Nicks sister (the last of the 3 girls). Maybe it's my aversion to romance stories or maybe it's coming down off of my Zombie Fallout high but it was just lacking for me. I'll try the next one a [...]

Okay I was skeptical at first but it deffinitly keeps your interest. I really like the relationshipe between the characters and that is really what keeps you reading. I would surely read the next book

  • Quirkyreader

I am torn between giving this book 3 1/2 stars or 4. The story was very fast paced and if filmed by the right director it would make a good movie.

Tonight I began a very dangerous, and frightening adventure. The land of free e books. The first book I read is included in the crimson fire set, it includes 10 books by two authors, which is free for your kindle on amazon! (amazon/Crimson-Fire-bo) The first book was called the zombie chronicles. I was afraid. First off I hate zombie books, second off, about three pages in I realized it was written like a semi okay quality fan fiction. The action was fast paced, along with everything else, but n [...]

So you take two brothers and their zombie infected, long-lost sister and you send them on a mission to save her. So much potential there. Then you bring in two rather obnoxious super-model-types and, of course, the guys go ga-ga for them. Then you bring on a mountain man who with what - as far as I can deem from the vague description - a superficial knife wound who sleeps more than the dying big sis. In fact, he even sleeps in a jeep through the majority of a massive zombie attack in which the s [...]

I originally gave this two stars. Now in the light of day I've changed my mind and have sent it back to 1 star, oklet's go with 1.5. Why? Just because you can write a book, doesn't mean you should. I haven't read anything else by this author, but zombie novels are not her forte. This sounded like it was written by a 12 year old. The dialogue between the characters was extremely juvenile even though the characters were in their early 20's with one being a cop and the other one in the army. Seriou [...]

The thing about zombies is they never die, except in inventive and convoluted ways, and they never go out of fashion. Since White Zombie, the 1932 indie-flick starring the unpredictable Bela Lugosi, movies, books, TV series and video games have been a staple (cannibalistic?) diet of this lively and adaptable genre. The Zombie Chronicles follows the codes of the genre and is written for young adults with a warning that there is some mild violence - though no more than what you might see in an epis [...]

The Zombie Chronicles (Apocalypse Infection Unleashed, #1) by Chrissy Peebles is a superb teenage horror novel and a must read for all zombie fans. The author's style is fresh and exhilarating full of tongue-in-cheek descriptions and zombie in-jokes - such as - "Besides, I'm pretty sure you like me for my brains and not my looks."3 siblings Dean the 1st person POV, his brother Nick and long-lost sister Val, team up to fight the undead hordes that have swept across America. The action is furious [...]

The Zombie Chronicles by Chrissy Peebles, Wow! What an action packed thrilling read. Hooked from page one, I couldn't put the book down. There was so much going on and just like the characters I couldn't stop, I had to keep going. There is plenty of awe and shock value, gruesome details, spine tingling descriptions and twist and turns along the way.Dean and Nick learn they have a sister, Val and that she has been bitten and needs the cure, problem one, she can't have the cure until she changes in [...]

I picked up this book cheaply for my Kindle through and didn't really know what to expect from it. As far as zombie books go, this one is good. I liked it but didn't think it was amazing. I have recently read World War Z so the bar was high. The story of two brothers and a sister racing back to a secure area with a possible cure for the virus. The sister is very sick and very much in need of the medicine before she turns. A man they meet along the way steals the vials of medicine knowing if he [...]

Written quite poorly. Lack of character and story depth. Very stereotypical and shallow.Felt a little tacked together. A plot seemed to spring out of no where with only 25% of the book to go. The whole thing was quite predictable. I just really enjoy zombie action and that's what saved this book for me.

Well, this isn't the worst I've read this year. It isn't the best either. Also, I had no idea this was a teen book till I was already reading it. Since the book, I picked before this was so terrible I just powered through this one. Why waste money on two bad books. Might as well at least read one. Because this book was designed for teenage thought I found myself wanting to strangle several of the characters. The last thing I'll say is that it ends on a cliff hanger so don't get your hopes up for [...]

I was really looking forward to this book because it was by Chrissy Peebles and I haven't read one of her books in a while. It didn't disappoint. I was drawn in instantly and couldn't put the book down. I loved the characters and the zombie story line. I can't wait to read book two to see if they are able to save Val.

  • Christian Nikitas

This was, to me, a typical Zombie Apocalypse story. It had it's moments when it was pretty good, but overall it wasn't anything that, for me, would stand out. I would only recommend this book as a filler for those who like this type of genre.

  • Stanley Marshall

OkParts of it were good but quite a few things just don't work like saying the Harley tires were squealing on loose sand! Swimming with all their clothes and things across a lake. Lots of the action was accompanied by poor decision making and to me just didn't work.

Amusing romp into a Zombie World. Great for young adults.

Dean knows that his brother Nick, part of the Zombie fighting army and pilot, will never help him rescue an infected girl. He knows this for many reasons, but two of them being that Nick is a rules kind of guy and would never break those rules to help a soon to be zombie girl and secondly even if Nick would help Dean break rules he would never help him save a girl that Dean has only known a very short time in just a day or so. Dean knows the girl's secret though and simply cannot allow her to be [...]

I'd give it 3.5 if I could! This is now my second Zombie book and, although I liked the story, I don’t think I’ll be picking up another zombie book in a hurry. It turns out that zombies just don’t tickle my literary fancy but hey, you gotta try these things right?I shall review this one based on plot, readability, writing skill and characters. The story starts with a happy couple on their first date and, within the first chapter, everything goes to hell in a hand basket.Zombies come out the w [...]

Great zombie book, cant wait to start the next one.

  • John Podlaski

I enjoyed this first book in the series! Two brothers break their long-lost sister out of a military facility in a walled-in city just before she was to be executed. Zombies have roamed the planet for over a year and those in the protected city are dependent and rely upon their protectors, many never learning how to fight and protect themselves. Their sister was bitten, infected and sentenced to death. One brother had befriended a scientist and came upon test vials thought to cure the zombie vir [...]

I really wanted to like this book. I've read a lot of zombie fiction from various writers and I have read books that were stomach turning such as Pariah and action filled such as Plague Town. This book left huge gaping holes where plot should have been filled in. The entire first half of the book is spent arguing with one person or another and then falling into teenage lust with the conveniently placed girl of a similar age. The second half of the book picks up with better descriptions but the s [...]

Eh, it was alright, I liked it but I didn't really get all that into it.A little different from other zombie stuff that I've seen in how they turn when they've been bitten or scratched. Not as good as the authors book Eternal Vows but much better than her other book Crush, somewhere in the middle. Took me a little while to read this, I've usually been able to read the books in this Enchanted Box Set in about a day and it's where I've been reading all of the books from Eternal Vows to this [...]

  • Emma Williams

Wasnt really sure about this book. I hadn't heard about the book before. I struggled to get into the book at first but once I got further into it I really started to enjoy it. I am looking forward to the next book in the series

  • MsBDiamondDiva1

Why does this book have some many good reviews?!?!?!This has to be the worst zombie book I have read this year! The dialog is what did it for me! It is the way these people talk, like they are in a cheesy B-rate film and then the repetitive phases. Example: "Come on man", "Just spit it out" and my all-time favorite is "Open a can of worms". Really you couldn't take the time out to rephrase some of this stuff; it is not like this is your very first book! The characters aren’t developed one bit [...]

  • Kasi

The beginning of the book left me wanting more info. I felt like the story goes right into the action without laying out the ground work for getting to know the main characters. I don't mind action from the get-go but I felt like the story was missing elements and not filling in properly. The characters seemed hollow as did the storyline. The beginning also seemed rushed. I almost read right passed the part where they get Val out because there was no detail that made it believable. Dean was in an [...]

After reading a Kindle free books list, I downloaded an omnibus of Chrissy Peebles novels on a whim, figuring that if I didn't like them, it was no loss. The Zombie Chronicles was the first book in the set, and it was a better start than I'd expected. It was cliched, derivative, and ran into my Kindle book series starter pet peeve of not having a real ending, but it was also quick-moving, pop culture savvy, and consistently readable. Admittedly, I don't read a lot of zombie stuff, so fans of the [...]
