This book was fantastic! I'm usually not a big reader, but I gave it a try. Within the first chapter, I was hooked. The book started to progressively get better and better as I read on. I think the book was well written and had lots of imagery! One of my favorites now! I am now reading more because of this book. THANK YOU ELI HINZE!

It started a little confusing and weird but, then it picked up momentum and I loved it. I really got into the relationship between Liz and Riven. I also loved all the training aspects and all the fantasy places. I thought it was really creative how she mixed ideas in different religions and myth into the book. I was hooked.

Know how when you pick up a book and glance at the clock, then you get into the story and then, what seems mere minutes later, you look at the clock again and it's way later than you thought it was? This book did that for me. Fun!The reason I didn't give this book a perfect 5 stars was because I found formatting errors and typos in some places. Also, there were several elements of the story which I thought could have been more polished. Nevertheless, I can't wait to read the next book!

One of my friends asked me to read this book and I'm so glad he did, it was amazing! Once I started in I just couldn't put it down, I actually read about 3/4 of it in one sitting. 'No Angels' has a plot line that didn't have any slow parts or parts that weren't important to the development of the book or its characters. I really do (and have) recommended this book to people; its simply creative, well written, and draws you in at the first sentence.

In general, this is not a genre (young adult paranormal/fantasy) in which I indulge. So I am reviewing this book based on more technical merits. The beginning of the book was a bit choppy, and I started and stopped a few times to get through the material. A lot of twists and turns happened throughout the book. Some dips in action were coupled with parts that were very well-paced. So parts of the book could be more tightened while other parts of the book could be lengthened so the pace is consist [...]

No Angels is an intriguing read with a well-built world, offering a first glimpse into a hidden reality that our heroine, Liz Patrona, learns she has inherited. Liz lives a life of avoiding conflict and attention, except when it decides to face her down, in which case you get to see a little bit of what really holds her together. Orphaned and living with an aunt who is so busy holding down her jobs you almost don't see her, Liz's life is both chaotic and lonely, even with the presence of her bes [...]

No Angels is truly a remarkable novel because every aspect of it is executed masterfully. To begin, the story borrows enough of the traditional framework used in young adult novels like the Harry Potter or Percy Jackson series to make the reader feel at home. But at the same time, Eli develops her own style and personality through her use of Egyptian religious myths and history to create the book's own flavor of the archetypal hero. Its pacing is undeniably top-notch; this is only one of many ar [...]

I haven't picked back up No Angels in nearly a year. I wanted to read the rest of the book, but unfortunately, I've come to realize I probably won't be doing that. I can't remember exactly where I left off. I just know that I wasn't quite hooked with the story. If I'm not enthralled with a book from the very beginning, then it's really hard for me to continue. I hope other readers have better luck with it than I did.

No Angels by Eli HinzeLiz is a normal teen girl. Then one day she is taken by a group of people to a city under the desert. Soon she finds life is not as it seems, and she is special. She will be the one to stand between the normal and paranormal. As she learns of her special abilities, she is thrust into a world where nothing is as she knows, and her life is in danger. An original story that moves at a steady pace with action, fantasy and danger. I liked Liz, she is pulled into the unknown, and [...]

I got this free on for a limited time and I'm going to give this an honest review. First, it's impressive that someone young has a published book and has a follow up to it. Not many could pull it off. The author's imagination could be commended but the story needs tweaking. The title is quite weak and doesn't have that magnetic pull. In a nutshell, it's not bad But it's also not good enough. There's a certain "disconnect" here and I'm not talking about the story telling. This young adult book ha [...]
