I forced myself to read this book to the end. Every single page. What a nightmare.Do I care about Julius Malema? No. Do I care about any of the other politicians in the book? No. They are self-indulgent, calculating creatures. Every last one of them. And I do mean all of them. Malema is making use of history, and remodelling himself after Mandela and his fight with the Communist Party many years ago - really. I don't think politicians are different anywhere in the world. It's just more embarrass [...]

It is necessary that this book or one like it should be written for the sake of understanding South Africa's contemporary and future politics. There is definite context that will produce an historical monster and Forde's account tells us exactly why, where and how this man has emerged, what his life experiences and political mentors and influences were and why he has been so massively influential. Although it is true that he has twisted events to suit and shape himself, that his life and behavio [...]

not really worth the effort, unless, that is, you want to be scared to death for the future of South Africa. Documents his impetuousness, racisim, greed and dishonesty - otherwise sounds like a good succedssor to Zuma!! dont wast your time

As much about the making of present day South Africa as it is about Malema. A book that broadly questions how and why instead of focusing on a narrow, biographical who. Intelligently situates Malema within the trajectory of the ANC and traces the organization's rougher edges along the way.

  • Jaco Griesel

Not a bad read at all. Insightful look into the "making" of Julius Malema.

  • Rutger-Jan

Insightful, but book is a bit dry.
