Barbara Burke s peripatetic life means she s lived everywhere from a suburban house in a small town to a funky apartment in a big city, and from an architecturally designed estate deep in the forest to a cedar shack on the edge of the ocean Everywhere she s gone she s been accompanied by her husband, her animals and her books For the last fifteen years she s worked as a freelance journalist and has won several awards She was a fan of Jane Austen long before that lady was discovered by revisionists and zombie lovers and thinks Georgette Heyer was one of the great writers of the twentieth century She lives by the philosophy that one should never turn down the opportunity to get on a plane no matter where it s going, but deep down inside wishes she could travel everywhere by train Ironically she now lives on an island in the north Atlantic which has no trains at all.

Living during the regency times couldn’t have been all manners and politeness. Time is running out for these two would-be lovers. Upon learning of their true feelings for each other, th [...]

Reviewed By~DanielleReview Copy Provided By~PublisherRecompromising Amanda is a short and sweet novella that is enjoyable to read. The only real fault with this novella is that the characters are so likable and well developed that it is disappointing that everything was resolved between the two of them so quickly. This causes readers of the novella to only get a fleeting glance at what could have been quite a riveting romance if the novella had been extended a bit to allow the plot to develop mo [...]

Recompromising Amanda Barbara Burke's short regency romp teases the reader with lovely prose and characters kept apart by their own misconceptions. Seven years before, the third Viscount Greyshott compromised Amanda Smythe-Kincaid by kissing her and getting caught. That night and every year thereafter, he asked her to marry him. She always refused, claiming she would only marry for love. She didn't want to trap him into a loveless, at least for him, marriage. Considered an old maid at 25, Amanda [...]

What a darling short! Just a little over 100 pages, but, jam packed. Loved Amanda, and, poor Jason, asking for her hand every year, neither of them realizing that what they feel is real. Great short.

I loved this little romance with just a touch of heat. The plot is delightfully novel, the characters of Amanda and Jason so well developed and their interaction both amusing and romantic. Definitely a must read for lovers of Regency romances.

Another enjoyable historical to add to my list. Well written and engaging.
