I am SHOCKED a free book that I actually enjoyed. The GOOD: The story was very intriguing, it actually kept me wanting to read, if your into paranormal reads then this would be a book for you. Ransom is a contract killer of the worst kind, who is feared, he is the strong and quiet type. You get a sense of a very bad man but I also sense a good in him. Isla has been held captive for 20 years by Bael, who keeps a tight watch over her because of her powers of touch to see the future. Ransom works f [...]

Oh Isla, how I didn't see you coming :-) I had thought we'd be getting some Drakyn action but I am fine with being wrong on that front. The little girl that Mick couldn't save is presented here and I was filled with excitement to see all these characters tales finely woven together. Not that I was worried it wouldn't make sense but I was curious to see how it was going to work out. I know this is the freebie that most people are picking up first but after reading the other two novellas and in or [...]

I downloaded this short story as a freebie for my Kindle. It is a lead in or teaser story, but wraps up with enough closer to allow the reader to breath in a non-panicked fashion and wait. Ha ha.** Please note - this short ends with a final vision involving Isla and Ransom. If your file ends with Isla in the office of the bar, you do not have the updated file. Swing back to the retailer you got it from and ask the customer service to send you the most recent file. This story is pure fantasy and p [...]

This is a short from the author's 'Mirus' paranormal series. I haven't read any of the other books and used this as a taster. As a story, it works quite well. For me, there are too many elements. It has werewolves, vampires, dragons, goblins, seers, assassins and warriors and is set in a world that appears both contemporary and imagined. I admit I found it a little too much. However, the story carries well and there is enough intriguing action to tempt the reader on.The characters are well drawn [...]

I'm not usually a fan of short stories, but Nolan's a master of the craft. If you're a fan of her Mirus stories, you can't miss this enchanting little bite of that world. Not only does it feature Nolan's lean, descriptive prose, it manages to both tie together loose ends even as it expands her Mirus world's horizons in multiple exciting ways. Absolutely worth it and an exciting taste of things to come, I hope!Oh, and can I just say I love the cover? Is that shallow? Because I do.

Nice characterization. Great writing. This is the first story from Kait Nolan that I've read and I went online and bought 2 more immediately. She's one of those writer that I'll buy her entire backlist now that I've discovered her, and for me that is rare.In Blindsight we meet Isle, who is psychic and has been abducted and forced to work for a rather unsavory villain. The hero is Random (gotta love that name!) and he's got all the right 'bad boy' elements that make him both sexy and dangerous, a [...]

I am not the world's largest fan of short stories; I find them particularly hard to review since very little growth character wise is ever brought into play. This is not true for this book. More even than character development I find I love the world the author has created and fluffed out sufficiently for the readers sake to seem foreign enough and familiar still. What I liked most about the book is the fact that the author said enough to make me wish it was not a short story but rather the begi [...]

I would give this 4 1/2 stars.I am so bummed that this ended where it did! I wanted to read more and find-out if Ransom will be okay and what happens with Isla. A fantastic short story with a frustratingly abrupt ending- You've been warned.

  • Mhairi Simpson

Just wrote something which I had to delete because it's a spoiler. Damn. And it was a really cool way to illustrate the fact that Kait reinforces her characters' paranormal attributes in a modern, believable way. Oh well. You'll just have to take my word for it.

  • Laurie McLean

Short and sexy. A short story that left me panting for more about this couple.l

  • Heather Sharpe

Intresting bookI got a bit confused at what time period we was in but still loved the book can't wait to read more

  • H.W.

More like 3 1/2 stars, but GR doesn't let you do that, A rockin' swords-and-sorcery story. Good dollop of mystery, good action, excellent pace. Characters are paranormal/fae and yet presented in a way that allows the reader to slip into them nicely. The plot relies a little on conveniences (a bit too easy to escape a highly guarded locale, throwing knives more deadly than bullets requires some suspension of disbelief) but Nolan knows how to kick up the tension which makes up for it. The antagoni [...]

This is a free short story to introduce you to the author and her world. It features a seer, Isla, who's been kept in a gilded cage for the past twenty years by Bael, a man who wants to use her only for her powers. Ransom is a skilled Fae assassin who only wants to free her. This was a gripping read from beginning to end and I was very disappointed to finish it. I immediately went online to look for more from this author. Her characters are engaging, the world is interesting and the plot was ente [...]

Though I spent the night after reading this dreaming crazy scenes, the story sucked me in and didn't let go. I was awake even later, wondering about details of a world where psychics, fae, and werewolves operated like the darkest underbelly of any crime syndicate. I am absolutely anticipating good things whenever Nolan releases Revelation. In the meantime, for those on the same, tight, Christmas budget as I am, this is free for who knows how much longer, and paints yet another unique and intrigui [...]

(3 stars = I liked it.) This was just a tease of a story, but it peaked my curiousity enough about the leads, Seer Isla and Assassin Ransom, that I went looking for the continuation of their story, Revelation - it isn't out yet. Blindsight gave only hints at what might be an interesting world with a mix of paranormals - werewolves, vampires, and fae - and the promise of a romance viewed through one of the heroine's visions.

  • JP

This story was really great, unfortunately it stopped with a sort of cliffhanger that made me run to my notebook to look up if there's a second one. Turns out it's still in the writing - argh!Anyways, an urban and slightly apocalyptic aproach on a seemingly great plot. Can't wait for more. I need to know how the underground fight will commence. GO Writer, write!

  • Wanda

A good short story.Summary: Isla's ability as a Seer has made her a life-long captive of a paranormal crime lord. Fae assassin, Ransom, offers her a chance at escape, but when she touches his hand she sees only blood, horror, apocalypse. What reason can Ransom have for wanting to rescue her, and can she possibly trust a man who deals in death?

  • Kathy (Kindle-aholic)

3.5 stars mostly because this felt more like a sample than a complete story. That doesn't mean I didn't like it, and it did it's job as I was left wanting more. The world is very interesting, I liked the characters, and there is a setup here for a very good action-romance. Nolan has a good narrative voice and I'll be checking out more from her.

  • Gab

Read this book within the Anthology "Kiss Me, Kill Me" which I highly recommend. This is book two in the Mirus series and after reading Blindsight - I've found myself a new series to read. Yippee!! p.s. book soon to be released called Red from this author might not be from the series - but looks really really good :)

  • Lorian Jones

Review:Okay, at first I thought this short story was boring and a little confusing for me. But when I can keep on reading I want to know what happen to next. Did Ilsa really did have feeling for Ransom or he have feeling for her? How come Ilsa did not noticed when Ransom realize what just happen she touch him where his heart is? I don't mind reading this series so I can know what going on.

  • Melissa

This installment in the Mirus series disappoints in only one way. It is too short! I am greedy and want to read more about how my two favourite couples, Mick and Sophie and Ransom and Isla are going to save the world. More powers converge in this novel, obviously preparing us for the battle to come. Bring it on! I'm ready.

  • SheLove2Read

Me likey!Free short story downloaded from . I had no expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The action was fast paced but I didn't feel like anything was rushed. Isla and Ransom were both intriguing characters and I'm definitely going to read their continuing story in Revelation.A-/4 stars

  • Misti Wolanski

Highly enjoyable read, with vivid descriptions. There were a few points that were a bit heavy on the telling, but I'll definitely move on to reading the rest in the series.EDIT: The aforementioned abrupt ending was edited, with another scene added that wraps things up better and leaves you ready for the related (not-yet-released) book.

  • Jacquelyn Smith

Ranson is a hunter in order for him to change his life and work with the underground her must save Isla from Bael. But can she trust him?And what do he want out of this? This little mini is filled with action and it's a great page turner.

  • Nathalia

I would give it 5 stars but the ending was a bit disappointing. However, as a short story it was well executed and managed to keep my attention till the very end. I'll definitely check out other pieces written by this author.

  • Alexis

I thought that this short story was okay. It was a bit hard to follow in the beginning but I caught on near the end. I was intrigued enough that I would be interested in reading more of this author's writing.

  • Marie Wolf

I fell for the Mirus series with the first one and this one is just as good but too short! The story kidnaps you and drags you in, making you feel for (and with) the characters. The ending is a cliffhanger, leaving you wanting more. I can't wait to read the other novels of the series!

  • Wendy-Lynn

Received this short story free from . Read this in lightning speed it was that good. Can't wait to continue reading the story of Isla and Ransom in the full length novel Revelation. He can be my rescuer any time!!

  • Sandra

So I really liked this short story. Interesting world, great characters, only problem is that it was too good and now I'm kind of annoyed that it ended so abruptly and I didn't see a continuation of Isla and Ransom's story anywhere else! Bummer.

  • KyBunnies

This is not what I usually read but it was a free short story offered by . I downloaded it and so enjoyed this little short story. I will now have to look for the others in the series. This was a great read. Thanks.
