If you are in the mood for a sweet book with middle school kids who have middle school insecurities, mild drama, and charming characters, I have a suggestion for you. Fake Me a Match is the perfect read for middle school girls who always wish they had a sister, best friend, boyfriend, or classmate who was a real and sincere friend. Author Lauren Barnholdt really knew her audience for this book and catered the story to appeal to girls who might think a lot about friendships and boys. There really [...]

Rating: 6/10Fake Me A Match is a cute little book. And it's the first book I've read in ages that has that rather large font size that you get in children's books! Maybe because this is a children's book! Anyways, I am going off topic here.I chose to read this book not because I had really been wanting to read it, but because I was participating in a readathon (and I was also reading The Historian at the time), so I decided that something short, cute and easy to read was just the thing to refres [...]

My Thoughts: Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of Lauren Barnholdt. If she wrote it, I will read it. I love all her of books! Fake Me A Match is more Middle Grade than Young Adult. I tend to stay away from Middle Grade because usually I don't like reading about 12-13 year-olds. But when I saw what this was about I knew I had to read it, plus its by Barnholdt. We are introduced to Avery who is 13 years old. She lives with her mom. She is getting a new sister (stepsister) because her mom i [...]

I think it's a little difficult for me to review middle grade books -- both because I don't read a lot of the genre and because it's been a while since I was 13 years old. I can't quite remember what kinds of plots and characters I enjoyed at that time, or whether or not my tastes from that era could really be trusted now. But, when I saw the cute cover on GalleyGrab, I decided to give FAKE ME A MATCH a shot (even though I wasn't crazy about the few YA titles I read from this author, to be hones [...]

Avery is very excited to be getting a new step-sister, and she is pulling out all the stops so they will be best friends. Unfortunately, her new step-sister Blake is less than interested. Until she meets Sam, who often hangs at his grandmother's house right around the corner. Now Blake is ready to hang out all the time (provided Sam is near). Things get more complicated though as Sam starts to pay more attention to Avery. Throw in picking out bridesmaid dresses, chairing the student council char [...]

I read this with my daughter. At first I wasn't enthusiastic about reading it, because it looked, I don't know fluffy. But I ended up really getting into it. Avery is a good girl. Good grades, student council, never been in trouble, not boy crazy or fashion crazy. But when her mom remarries and she gets a new stepsister, she wants desperately for Blake to become her new BFF. She is so eager to please Blake that she begins to do a little fudging here, and a little lying there. And before you know [...]

Thanks to S&S galley grab for the ARC.This was a nice, cute and light read. It was funny and made me laugh out loud in a lot of scenes. It also provided an insight into inner psyche and ramblings of a 13 year old. There were times Avery (MC) would go on and on about nothing specific just ranting. I found it a bit annoying at times. Also Avery going back and forth about Sam also got on my nerves.I've read other books of Lauren Barnholdt like Two-way Street and Sometimes It Happens. Those both [...]

I SO loved Avery! Avery is such a wonderful girl! She's nice and selfless and she so wants to be liked! She truly believes that because Blake is going to be her stepsister, they will be insta-best friends and I was so rooting for her that everything was gonna work out! She manages to land herself in some funny situations and well, this girl is just awesome.Avery was so scared of loosing Blake as a friend that she denies herself the opportunity to be with the boy she likes. I don't think my 13-ye [...]

I thought that this book looked cute when reading the description on the egalley, and really I can’t think of a better word then cute to describe it. I don’t mean this in a sarcastic way, but the kind that when you finish reading you say “aw that was cute”, and really it was, very cute. I liked the creativity in the story about middle school aged kids, and how they raise money for their student council. It steps away from some of the books geared at this age group, and it is really appro [...]

(3.5 stars) I thought this was a cute story--if not really substantive. In this book, 13-year-old Avery LaDuke has high hopes for her new step-sister (who's exactly her age), since her current BFF has been acting strange. When Avery gets put in charge of a school fundraiser--a matchmaking project--she knows just what to do: she'll fix the results so Blake gets matched with Sam, her current crush. Only, something goes wrong and Avery gets matched with Sam instead--and worse still, she discovers t [...]

Avery wants a new best friend and her step-sister is moving with her so she thinks she is having a new best friend but her step-sister hangs out with the popular group and nshe is in love with someone annoying. Avery tries to put them together a s partners for the fair but she messes up and she gets stuck with Sam the one her step-sister likes. Triple Oh No!I really liked this book because it is long and funny. I love how the suspense goes because you know the story will end well but you just do [...]

Ow! This books was an Ah-Dorable love story! Avery doesn't know what to do are so many periods of time in the book I honestly hated Blake in the beginning. I thought she was some snobby brat that wanted to take everything away from Avery. But at the end she was OK. I mean who wouldn't want to go on a shopping spree with your sister as if you guys are BFF'S! I'm 13 years old and my Mom would NEVER let me do that! I love how Sam admits to Avery how he likes her not Blake. It was so cute. I would l [...]

I've started liking lauren barnholdt books last year and this is just another book I can't stop reading. I was so onto this book I couldn't take my eyes off it I finished it in 3 days which believe me, for me it's probably a new record. When I read her books I love the books and can hardly stop reading. In this book I love everything especially all the details and tone she tries to express. I recommend this book for any girl who loves teen romance. Ir seriously just love this book and want more [...]

I thought the book was a bit boring and I was a disappointed in what I had read. There were a few interesting parts and my favorite character was Blake because I liked her attitude and her personality. This book is probably recommended to people who like reading about life in middle school but I dont prefer that because I am in middle school so I want to leave the remaining 2 years for me a mystery but I like reading about High School because I need to be able to survive in High School but "Fake [...]

I was first attracted to this book because 1. It was written by Lauren Barnholdt and 2. It was an Aladdin Mix book. I've read a few of them before and I found them to be quite cute and refreshing reads. This book did not disappoint me of that expectation. This story, while not an amazing book that I couldn't put down, was a great read for me when I wanted to pass the time. I recommend it to those who enjoy reading light books with a cute story line. :)

  • Car

At first I thought the book was really annoying since it is kind of under my age limit. And the main character whines throughout the entire book. But my sister read it and she liked it and asked me to read it so I did. And after about a little over 100 pages into the book I actually started to get interested. It was cute, with a little middle school love triangle. Completely harmless.

  • Jenten0018

Great book. It had me wondering what would happen next. I'm glad Avery and Blake made up. Although I still think is stuck up. She admitted she didn't like Sam the way Avery did. But, I think she was more mad that Avery didn't tell her rather then about the kiss. It had great development. I wish there was a sequel.

  • Jessie(Ageless Pages Reviews)

No rating because I simply couldn't finish this. I can usually enjoy (and legitimately looove) young-adult novels, but this came across as much younger. I think kids from about the age of 10-14 would enjoy this. It was far too dramatic, simplistic and superficial; just not a novel for me.

  • Diana

I didn't know this was a middle school book when I checked it out, and I was slightly disappointed because my library has it labeled as YA. Anyway, I gave it a chance and honestly, it's cute with a very nice story line but it's just too young for me. Not the book's fault, totally on me.

  • Hazel

I read about great reviews where the person states that once she held the book, she never got the urge to put it down. Finally, I was able to relate to the person after reading this cute, sensible paced book that made me smile and appreciate the beauty of innocent love.

  • Jalissa

I really like it. It shows what can happen when a plan back-fires on you. The main character also has some experiences that may change her personality. I would recomend this if you enjoy romance books.
